Once one team decides to throw the rules out of the window you cannot maintain them just by following them harder. If both men agree to wear gloves and obey the referee they are boxing, if one man produces a gun and opens fire you are not boxing anymore and quoting rules to the man who is actively pulling the trigger is not principled, it is suicidal.

AI is going to wipe out at least 25 million jobs in the next 5 to 10 years. Probably much more. It will destroy every creative field. It will make it impossible to discern reality from fiction. It will absolutely obliterate what’s left of the education system. Kids will go through 12 years of grade school and learn absolutely nothing. AI will do it all for them. We have already seen the last truly literate generation.

All of this is coming, and fast. There is still time to prevent some of the worst outcomes, or at least put them off. But our leaders aren’t doing a single thing about any of this. None of them are taking it seriously. We’re sleepwalking into a dystopia that any rational person can see from miles away. It drives me nuts. Are we really just going to lie down and let AI take everything from us? Is that the plan?

@alliezahorchak Thats a good point. Although i think the rising cost of living is due to the falling value of the dollar (which kind of circles back to inflation). If it were the lack of inflation adjusted minimum wage, when do you stop raising the minimum wage?

@alliezahorchak Yeah, the company will bring in more money due to higher prices (assuming the customers are willing to pay higher prices). But the cost of living will increase, rendering the pay raise useless

@alliezahorchak 2) It will trim down the amount of people eligable to work minimum wage jobs. Companies will in turn either raise their prices (to be able to pay their employees) or fire their employees (making it more difficult for the remaining employees or replacing them with technology).

@alliezahorchak 1) If a person doesn't generate more revenue for the company than the company pays them, the company wont hire them. This is true for $50/hr, $7.25/hr, and $15/hr. Raising the minimum wage raises the base level of skill required to work a base level job.

@Joe_G347 You can reference a flag (as the beach towel does) without referencing the symbolism. So sitting or laying on a meaningless beach towel, in my eyes, is completely fine. And anyone "with common sense" understands that beach towels are meant to be laid on, and used as a towel...
