Miriam, a popular Israeli restaurant in Brooklyn, was vandalized this morning with “Israel steals culture” and “genocide cuisine.”
Not only is this vandalism a disgusting act of anti-Jewish hatred, but the insinuation that Israelis don’t have cuisine and culture is dehumanizing.
Israeli food isn’t “stolen”—it’s the heritage of 850,000 Jewish refugees who were violently expelled from the Middle East.
On the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day, this bigotry—accusing Jews of genocide and cultural theft—is especially disturbing.
