This is Margaret Faux's PhD thesis abstract (highlight my own). Why is she giving a vastly different "leakage" figure of 8 billion than her thesis, and now publicly sounding a very different tone to the severity and extent of "rort"? Did the journalist even check the source?

@adele_ferguson did Margaret provide you the source of her 8 billion figure? And if she did, did she explain the discrepancy between this and the PhD thesis which is merely one year old? Given this forms the core of your feature article, disappointing this is not verified.
