@tiphe_j Polygamy appears in the Old Testament but is never commanded or held up as ideal; it is consistently shown as producing conflict and deviation from the original pattern.
You know what wrecked me when I was newly Christian?
Genesis 22. For years as a Muslim, I was told the story was about Ishmael.
Then I actually read it. I think the bigger topic isn't Isaac or Ishmael.
It's this: Why would God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son in the first place? What kind of God does that?
The answer hit me like a freight train, because it shattered my Muslim worldview. God wasn't being cruel, He was painting a picture.
Abraham never goes through with sacrificaing Isaac. God stops him, then God provides a ram in his place. That action is not just a test or an isolated story: That's prophetic. It's a blueprint.
The blueprint goes: A father. A son. A sacrifice. A substitute.
You see where I am going with this.
Genesis 22 is actually the heartbeat of the Gospel. God was foreshadowing the day when He Himself would provide the sacrifice. Not for one man. Not only for one family.
But for the whole world. Of course, salvation wasn't earned by Abraham's performance. It came through God's provision.
You can recieve this substitute and gift. Here's what made me stop and think: The Quran retells the story of Genesis 22, but removes the name of the son. Why?
Because once you start following the thread through Genesis, the prophets, and the covenant promises, you eventually have to wrestle with the Lamb that comes later.
You have to wrestle with Jesus. The perfect sacrifice that every previous sacrifice pointed toward.
And that's when I realized: The story was never ultimately about Abraham. It was always about what God was going to do for us.
And there's nothing we can do to earn His approval! We can only receive the sacrifice He already provided.
An estimated ~8M Christians just in Texas are projected not to vote during midterms.
That election will be decided by a projected ~300k votes.
Pastors, consider encouraging your people to vote real quick in announcements next couple weeks.
A) They want you to
B) They are the "salt of the earth", a preservative slowing societal decay.
@kapchatfield Serious theological question. Is eternal life only given to those who accept Jesus as the messiah? “No one comes to the Father except through me.” Maybe the “Israel” promise is for the ethnically (by bloodline only) Jewish who are Christian believers and not those who reject Him?
-If it’s against Jesus, I will not comply. You see politicians like Talarico and other nominal “Christians” gaining traction because if they can convince people just enough that their policy is still honoring God, less resistance. Satan is sneaky. Don’t be fooled. Know scripture.
@conservmillen@JackPosobiec It’s like Christian’s are called to be more holy or something. To be “set-apart” or something. To not conform to the world but be transformed by the renewal of your heart, or something.. Allie is completely right in my humble opinion.
America, consider this our letter from Paul.
Such a powerful message. My wife and I are both studying it together and challenging one another to move past the comfort plateau we’ve been in regarding our faith. We must continue to build each other up. #contendbook
Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. - Jude
Tears of gratitude. Heart burdened for the Church in this critical hour.

@MasterMaliq Islam claims what we have now is not credible. But also confirms the Bible as truth. If the Bible is truth, and Jesus is credible, Muhammad was a false prophet who led people astray from the truth. The Bible (OT and NT) is the most reliably accurate historical document period.
🚨 Pastor @philipamitchell weighs in on Hell and speaks on what happens after death to those who are separated from Christ and, ultimately, separated from God. “Everyone has to make the decision for themselves.”

Hey @MLB - wanna get more kids watching baseball?
Maybe start with the commercials.
Watching the playoffs tonight with my kids and here's the rundown:
- Megan Fox selling ED pills in a red bodysuit
- The scariest movie trailer you've ever seen
- Sydney Sweeney in zero clothes promoting betting on sports
Leagues can't figure out why kids don't watch.
You don't need a Nickelodeon game. You're not the Savannah Bananas.
Just show baseball in a way I can leave on in my house.

Don't forget how quickly heavy-handed censorship can be used to suppress the truth. They did in 2020, they will do it again.
@Banacubana_ He is truly forgiving, but simultaneously truly just. In order for justice, there must be payment for sin. He also has made the payment for those that accept the gift. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift from God is eternal life through Christ Jesus.”
