This may or may not be a good analogy, but I remember back in 2010-2012ish, when Bootstrap was released (the prehistoric Twitter days), a lot of Web developers were so mad and judgy because you could crank out websites much quicker. I wrote code 100% "by hand" before that, but when I discovered Bootstrap, and learned how to use it well, my work was so much better.

Sure, some people could throw out some slop, for lack of a better term, but if anyone knew what they were doing they could build something quite nice (under the hood and above it), but the workflow just changed.

Which is sad, because I always liked Perplexity. But they got left in 2023.
