My prediction (wild guess) about generative AI and large language models.

1. Large models are the operating systems of the AI era.

2. Similar to operating systems, only a few mainstream large models (<5) will survive in the long run.

3. Like operating systems, there will be coexistence of open-source and closed-source models, with 1-2 closed-source models and 1-2 open-source models. Open-source models may branch out into different versions, similar to Linux distributions.

4. Comparable to the internet era, 2-3 new AI giants are expected to emerge, primarily focusing on AI platform services and applications.

5. We will witness both the rise and fall of many AI startups offering niche services.
