@Dottyeyes@mikepope@MegStEsprit Presentation = prezzo just to confuse things! And we also call it a walkie-talkie, though I haven't heard that expression in decades :-)
@Dottyeyes@mikepope@MegStEsprit We'd use 'fave' not 'favo', 'Aussie' for sure (pron. 'Ozzie', never 'Ossie' as many Americans say it), and wouldn't abbreviate 'translator'. For the earlier ones: sunnies (sunglasses), prezzies (presents), chalkies (teachers), ambo (paramedic/ambulance), garbo (garbage collector)
@H_E_Saunders Super timely. Dealing with my Dad's death last week and funeral tomorrow so some may not apply as already passed, and no doubt advice is for a specific country, but I'm sure to get general guidance from it. Thanks for sharing!
@EditorObscura If the author is of a certain age, this may be what they learned in the days of manual typewriters and having to tab or space to centre a heading etc. Some habits are hard to break, but often it's just not knowing you can do it any other way.
@ebrenner Recovering, but can now sit at the computer for short periods. Laparoscopic surgery, but aftermath still painful. Can't drive, can't lift things, can't cook or clean :-) Drugs have abated and I have my taste and brain back. Bonus: $0 because we have universal health care
Missing my #edibuddies at #ACESEvolve but SOOO glad I decided months ago not to attend. Why? Emergency appendectomy on Sat after an ambulance trip to hospital Fri night. Super grateful I wasn't on flights from Australia to Ohio for the conf, OR in the US at the time. #NotAtACES
Adding @Spoutible to your platforms? Not in the US and can't get authorised? When entering your phone number do NOT choose the autofill country name your browser wants to give you--enter the actual digits (e.g. +61 for Australia). There's a 30-minute reason I know this!
