@OTBC69 @yourcolchester Google maps is pretty terrible at showing any cycle infrastructure so I wouldn't advise using it. Have you tried a cycling specific app like komoot, or even open street map?

Wivenhoe Trail closed for improvements
Work is due to start today (3rd October) on essential improvements to the Wivenhoe Trail. The work will include removing encroaching vegetation, improving drainage and laying of new granite pathways.
