Instead of viewing #streets as spaces to move vehicles quickly through, what if we reimagined these valuable slices of real estate as places to build community, encourage healthier lifestyles, improve air quality, and support local economies?

I've just signed @friends_earth's petition to stop a new coal mine from being built in Cumbria.
If we’re serious about tackling the climate crisis then one new coal mine is a coal mine too many.
Will you add your voice too? #NoNewCoal https://t.co/JIqavgVpSv
How do cities turn this moment into a permanent, pedal-powered movement?
Infrastructure.
Infrastructure.
Infrastructure.
Build a cohesive network that enables people to travel from anywhere to everywhere.
We can assure you it’s possible.

Cycling isn’t inherently a “macho high-speed hobby”. Decades of car-centric street design made it that way.
In cities that have reversed this trend, cycling is a means of emancipation and participation in society, for demographic groups long excluded from most mobility networks.
The work commute is statistically the longest and least frequent type of journey we make in a day. Yet it dominates transport planning.
Now more than ever, cities must build cycle networks to support recurring local trips: to the corner store, café, community center, or school.
At the beginning of this year there was no way that I would have felt comfortable cycling with my five- and nine-year-old daughters from Hotwells to St Paul’s. @BristolCouncil, keep up the great work encouraging cycling and do please make these pop-up lanes permanent.
