It’s spring cleaning time at the City of Saint John!
🧹🚚 🫧
Our crews have transitioned from snow plowing to street sweeping, clearing roads of sand and debris as we move into the warmer season.
"YES! Winter mountain biking ...has been a surge in its popularity here in New Brunswick...
It’s a guaranteed cure for the winter blues!"

The community has lost a champion.
We’re saddened hear of the passing of Wayne King. Wayne was the mechanic for the Saint John Bike Share program. He made a tremendous impact, with a talent and kindness that can't be matched. Our sincere condolences to his family & friends.
Thank you @marlogee for your reporting. Too often, these tragedies are a quick news release: someone has died, the end. It’s as if we expect deaths to occur on our roads. But now we know Hunter was new to town, handing out resumes. We should all be moved to act by this story 💔
Let’s build a culture of road safety in New Brunswick. Roads are for more than just cars: from bikes to road hockey. While we don’t know much about hockey, we do know @VeloNB has an excellent bike safety handbook. Read how you can share the road safely https://t.co/OHSFMfFlDg
@intoxuser I understand what you’re saying. “If there is education needed then it needs to happen in cycling.” We can only partially agree. It needs to happen everywhere
Hunter Seguin was handing out resumes.
Hunter just moved to Saint John.
He did not have a drivers license.
He jumped on his bike to improve his life and was killed.
Too often, this healthy choice ends up being fatal
It’s heartbreaking.
It’s not right.
It’s 100% preventable

@intoxuser I think we’re quick to pin blame on others:
“It was probably dark”
“Driver was probably looking at their phone”
“The road design is bad”
“Police need to do more”
At a macro level, all of the above needs to improve to save lives. Blaming one is just passing the buck.
@andrelli814 We know little and based on previous cases, it could be over a year before any details of the reconstruction are released. In the meantime, we can and must adopt an attitude that all collisions are preventable
If you’re leader: speak up. If you care but feel hopeless not being in a leadership position: send an encouraging note to those who are & those working on this issue. Angry rants from social media trolls & traffic alarmists cannot deter us from doing what’s needed. Let’s act!

This was not an “accident.” Safety is not “expensive.” We need a new vision for safety. Let’s foster a culture of safety for others like Hunter who just want to make their lives better. #VisionZero

Loving the @cityofsaintjohn 's new road diet and 🚲 lanes on University Ave. It's amazing what even a little paint can do to make active transportation feel safer. Looking forward to the Main St. connection next!
Bike to School Day was an awesome start to a beautiful Thursday with almost 1/3 of our students participating. This is how you get students outdoors!! @ASD_South @ASDS_PhysEd
Have you registered yet for the trail build this Saturday at 12 PM?
No experience? No problem! This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to get their hands dirty with community trail building. The first 100 registrants get some swag! https://t.co/sQbcNuJCb4
The Rockwood build is June 18th at 12PM. Register below for some swag. Props to @cyclingsj's Emily Lennon for her work in coordinating with Specialized. It's a big friggin deal that Saint John has the attention of this international campaign. Cheers, Em! https://t.co/IHKFEwFrWr
3 cheers for trail builders in this region

This past weekend @adamlswilkins+crew did some work at Black Beach, @DrCarrieTee lead the team to rehab a well trodden path at Reversing Falls, and coming up this weekend we have @specialized_ca supporting a build in @rockwoodpark
