I’m here at the Da Vinci Center at 7 PM, getting things ready for tomorrow’s North End Backpack Drive! It kicks off at 11 AM sharp at 470 Charles St, Providence, RI 02904—first come, first served.
After that, we’ll head to Chad Brown for our second backpack drive at 3 PM, 285 Chad Brown St, Providence, RI 02908.
A huge thank you to the sponsors and contributors who made this possible. We pulled this together in less than a week, and it’s all thanks to a beautiful coalition of people who truly care about our students. THANK YOU!
North End, I need your help spreading the word! Tell a friend to tell a friend!
@PPSDTruthTeller@PPSDTruthTeller what should also be mentioned is when staff other than the actual educator go into the IRLA scores and CHANGE THE DATA!
Altering data to put up a front does not help our kids succeed.
@startchangeri@DanMcGowan If your comment is actually serious, here is clarification…high schoolers work. They don’t ride a school bus. They use RIPTA. And “NON-school related sports/activities” means just that…NOT scheduled by RIIL. But thanks for the quick laugh!
@DanMcGowan@PTU958 Let’s talk about “less.”
5 min less per period.
Less Ss leaving early to go to work, catch a bus, participate in non-school related sports/activities (BTW all out of their control).
Less exhaustion/frustration for our elementary Ss.
It goes on, but non-educators don’t get it.
@youmepooneil@PTU958@DanMcGowan No. 30 minutes of instructional time (teaching & learning) were added only for the 23-24 SY knowing it would REVERT BACK to the original time for the 24-25 SY.
Absolutely! A candidate came to my door for a signature. I asked what his position is on charters. He walked away WITHOUT my signature after saying he “loves charter schools” & “we need more.” WHY RUN FOR A PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO SUPPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS?!?
24hrs later, still confused as to why a city councilor would be upset about receiving letters from PTU members advocating for their students just b/c they don’t live in the city! Why does their passion for their students bother you? As city residents, my kids and I thank @PTU958
Council member James Taylor- I am absolutely floored by your commentary this evening. First tidbit for you, Times2 is an in district charter with Providence Public School teachers! Second, comments regarding your sons being the "minority" is highly offensive & disrespectful!
@reneemwalker1 Maybe part of pub. record, last night’s council mtg. Disparaging remarks about PPSD including that he refused to send, in his words, his “2 white sons to RWMS or GSMS b/c THEY WERE THE MINORITY” Nothing like slapping your black & brown constituents in the face. Disgusting.
The BIG Lie- Charter Schools are public schools. NO, charter schools are private schools that use public monies to perpetuate a fraud on the public! Stop the nonsense, you are far from a public’s school entity!
Thank you City Council members @MSanchezPVD@justinroias @Shel1219 for supporting our kids and community by opposing the $1 Charter lease presented by other members of @pvdcitycouncil . Unlike @PVDMayor you know ALL OUR KIDS MATTER!
@MSanchezPVD@SamuelTheLibran@amymrusso Awful service! I don’t mean the cost. Paid for 2 mattresses&2 box springs for pick up at my elderly mom’s home. Took 2 weeks to pick up 3 and they left 1. Took another 3 weeks for them to pick up the last one. I even had to send them pics as they insisted they picked up all 4😡
