Nigeria has had

/ pastors abusing children
/ domestic violence every day
/ child marriage still going on
/ Uwa raped & kïlled in a church
/ police officers raping teenagers in the station
/ 1 in 4 girls experiencing sexual violence before the age of 18.

We have a culture of
- boys raised entitled
- blaming victims
- trivalizing marital rape
- men excusing each other
- girls told not to tempt adult men
- silence around sexual violence
- protecting powerful men like Akpabio
- women conditioned to defend abusers
- victims’ relatives protecting the family name.

This is not white people data, so tell me where the equivalent accountability infrastructure that was built againt Epstein is in Nigeria?

Where is the public outrage that doesn’t end in 48 hours?

But the moment a Nigerian woman opens her mouth about a pattern that harms Nigerian women, a Nigerian man comes to tell her she should be talking about something different.

But you know what you are doing as sensible learned adults understand the difference between patterns and universals.

Individuals don’t fall from the sky. They come from somewhere and they are shaped by something.

The refusal to examine what shapes them is a cultural product. Predators also rely on a culture that rushes to defend “the image of men.” That belief that the feelings of Nigerian men, their comfort, their reputation, their ego, matter more than the safety of Nigerian women.

There is a Nigerian rape culture that keeps failing our girls. The one you just defended by changing the subject.
