When we say this is Dallas’ 1st housing bond $ why don’t we count housing bond $ approved by voters w/EcoDev bond$? 2015, 2017, 2019? Orgs that RECEIVED housing bond funds don’t count those bond $? Look at this old headline…see housing? Between streets & flood control?
Don’t go to the embedded link for Central Dallas CDC in the DMN homeless story. This is the only local coverage I’ve found on CDCDC formerly CitySquare Housing formerly CDCDC. (And I’m remembering closer to $188K/unit not $88K.)

A testament to hard work by community-based, resident-led orgs (SherriMixon, TRHCDC) but—on Labor Day weekend—a vet being denied earned benefits is disturbing. @MixonSherri@tr_cdc

Call of Action: Come stand with the Joppa community to stop 🛑 another Batch plant in the community. That will effect the health of the Joppa residents.
Congratulations to Mr. Scottie Smith, Mr. Kevin Hemphill & others. Especially for attention to elevations. An old site largely owned/controlled & abandoned/forgotten/ignored by taxpayers for years. Our policies help make these messes.

Folks w good intentions tried hard. But lost in the swirl of doing so good: subsidy per door. $25M for 54 units? I can’t remember who voted against? I was sitting near families losing their rental homes & for whom any kind of public help was such a longshot it was unfathomable.
Griping again. Hey only local newspaper no matter how many press clipping snippets you insert as artwork, I’m just not biting on UFOs&Aliens as the best local journalism the Metro section can put out in Sunday edition. Searching for intelligent local news among us @dallasnews?
Another reason to support neighborhood-based resident-led orgs…CEOs show up w/petition on behalf of the neighbors. Even into a late evening Council meeting. Nothing but respect for TRHoover CDC CEO (and all the leaders like her endlessly fighting big odds) @MixonSherri@tr_cdc
Griping. I hate it when local corp execs (inc nonprofit leaders) advocate for policies (like bond progs) when they don’t live in the jurisdiction. Feels sleazy to expect taxpayers to pay to benefit a biz/org (incl paychecks) when bosses live/shop/eat& pay greens fees miles away?
Congratulations @CityOfDallas Housing,Catholic Housing Initiative,Five Mile Neighborhood Assoc. Yes there are many vacant lots & too many are underserved by basic infrastructure & so it takes too painfully long sometimes. So this is great news at last.

Congrats on 1st step Ms. Derrough for Joppa, Kathryn Bazan & City for all long afflicted communities. Shouldn’t be so hard; shouldn’t be such a fuss; but it is a fuss. Small, nice progress.

Impressive work Maggie Parker/Innovan, Golden Seeds, City HousingDept & all partners in this development. And to TREC, 2000Roses & all the others helping build community in The Bottom. Looks great. https://t.co/5sBqeVOjfq

I am incredibly honored to be recognized as a Living Legend by @DallasBarAssoc for a segment that will air today! What a wonderful opportunity to remember my mentors and those that paved the way for me and so many others.
Didn’t former CM SGriggs propose police/fire pension fix via legislation to break perpetual DART sales tax guarantee? Am I misremembering? Yes there’s a poison pill but isn’t it time to seriously exam other public uses for DART$? PublicSafety? AffordableHousing? EarlyChildcare?
Nice local media coverage of proposed legislation restricting PFCs—citing Houston Housing Authority as culprit. Is there some difference in the entities established by DHA Housing? DHA has the PFC itch too? Does anyone know? Anyone ever look?

Good grief. Qualifications of any individual contributor aside, you search nationally for new voices to expand thoughtful discourse & 7 of 12 are white men? Who thinks this is expansive? And let’s not notice—again—Hispanics are grossly underrepresented. Who decides this stuff?
Despite the usual thousand or so cliched objections & typical old guy detractors stay with it TaylorToynes & RobertKent. It is overdue and worthy of public support. @mr_toynes@robertbkent
