🪑 BTS BENCH IN SINGAPORE 💜
Last year when we found out the BTS Zoo bench term was over, we were devastated. We loved that bench as a touchstone to visit, and we were determined to make a new one for ARMY in Singapore.
We had been eyeing the Esplanade benches for some time already and were gratified to find that fellow ARMY @vintagefur08 was feeling the same. Together we worked out a plan to co-sponsor most of the adoption fee for the bench and call for donations for the rest of it - we wanted everyone to share in the ownership of this project. This is truly a bench for ARMY, by ARMY, because of BTS.
Thanks to all of you for walking with us on this journey! We hope this bench, located in a public area that’s still quiet and tranquil and with one of the best views in Singapore, will continue the legacy of the zoo bench. It’ll be here for the next 10 years - a place where ARMY can come to sit and think, listen to music, enjoy the view, and maybe make an ARMY friend or two.
Love, the bora dot @btsxsingapore
Location: @esplanade_sg, Level 4 Rooftop
@calviheynanana@iloveoolongtea7 Talkinf abt fines. Cigarettes are subjected to heavy duties and taxes too and you migjt be caught by plain clothed officers and fined on fhe spot
ANYWAY, i just wanted to give a bit of context.
i’m not asking u to consider coming to SG becos we also have ghosts in our stadiums, and spirits of every race - very multicultural indeed.
and SG gets very wet in Dec - heavy rains, flooded roads/streets ⛈️⚡️
terrible place
the only drawback is things may seem expensive in SG - and yes, that is true compared to our other SEAblings, but you CAN find reasonably priced food and accomds + we are so small it doesn’t take you THAT long to travel by bus or MRT.
+
plus the SG govt/tourism board has been very active in making SG a concert hub - and why not? there are obvious economic upsides and reputational benefits from doing so.
(plus our PPP is one of the highest globally but that is another thread lmao)
+
in SG, things are pretty straightforward and as many know, our processes are very transparent.
our venues are easily accessible by reliable public transport, the city is safe by most standards, our national airline and airport rocks…it’s not hard to see why.
+
in some cities/countries, there are heavy fees and/or tough regulation that make it extremely challenging and costly to hold concerts - like having to apply for licensing/visa/passes or pay duties/taxes/fees (sometimes for every working foreign crew member).
+
when a venue can command a higher tix revenue, it usually means that it can go above and beyond covering the cost of organising it.
what SG has done successfully is ensuring acts MAKE money when they come and do their tours here, and cultivating that.
+
concert costs A LOT of money. at the end of the day, everybody involved - artists, agencies, organisers - ALL need to make money from tours.
tix sales usually just covers the operational and execution costs, and it’s the merch, brand collabs, etc that raises profitability. +
“sg is so smol, why do they get 4 days?”
bear with me, for i’m a data nerd.
yes, we are only a tiny dot - on some maps, u might not even see us.
look, even our venues aren’t that large compared to many other cities.
but what we command is pricing power.
