Problems with the Current Design:
1. LOSS OF TREE BUFFER on Hwy 85. Avalon will cut the tree buffer (including
heritage trees) and put new units against Hwy 85. Resulting in exposure to toxic
airborne pollutants and noise for the next 20-30 years.
"Transparency is paramount and you need to continue to have the conversations with the neighborhood, with those who are going to remain to find out, truly, what they are going to have to deal with,"
Thank you!
@AvalonBay@SouthBayYIMBY
"AvalonBay shouldn't downplay or ignore the problems ahead, and should proactively work with tenants to disclose the environmental hazards caused by construction in the near term and potential long-term impacts of living close to Highway 85 with a limited tree buffer."
Thank you!
An artificial environment cannot replace a natural ecosystem that matches the many benefits of a pre-established natural environment such as wildlife habitat and a barrier to airborne pollution from the nearby freeway.
Please help us!!

The residents have proposed alternative project designs that would allow the building of additional apartment units AND preserve (and improve) the existing natural forest and trees. #AvalonBayCommunities#MountainViewVoice#CityofMountainView
Message from neighbor:
We need to modify Avalon’s plans to save the heritage trees. Saving the trees will preserve the air healthy! Keep residents on CPD Healthy!!

@CypressPointGrp Save Hwy 85 tree buffer by moving 24 apts from side of freeway. A good architectural design can do this and also save interior heritage trees. Ask your Council members to preserve health of community.
@CypressPointGrp Heritage trees can be saved with good architectural design. Move 24 apts from side of freeway and save interior redwoods to protect health of Avalon residents and residents of community
Forwarding a message from a neighbor: Please help the residents health!
I do not want the trees by Hwy 85 to be taken down, they provide a noise and pollution barrier
The project will bring more traffic and density to an area already stressed.

Message from a neighbor:
I am a resident of the apartment complex at 555 W Middlefield.
I oppose the proposed construction project.
I have concerns for my health, dust, noise will force me to have windows shut.
I work from home and noise will affect my productivity.
@AvalonBay
2. UNHEALTHY CONCENTRATIONS of PM2.5 in dust emissions from demolition,
construction for the next 7+ years.
3. TRAFFIC HAZARD and DENSITY at dead end street They will build a 435
underground car parking garage and 225 units at the end of Cypress Point Dr.
