Time Slip ~ OUT NOW | Producing music, creating, growing and changing my mind all the time. Based in Berlin. Behind @thebrokecurator. Formerly @upcomingstudio.
This whole thing—music, coffee bags, videos—is just me trying to stay curious, create stuff I care about, and hopefully bring a few people along for the ride.
@thebrokecurator For the marketing, the story I told was about how I made the coffee bag—not what the product is. Next time I’ll flip it: product first, process second. Let’s see what happens.
I started a project called @thebrokecurator. The first product? A bag of coffee beans that looks like a fashion item. A textile label sewn onto the bag. No one asked for it. That’s exactly why I did it.
I ran Meta ads on the first product drop @thebrokecurator. Learned a ton. Didn’t make profit. Not surprised. You need brand, story, and audience before paid ads work.
Instagram shows reels to way more people than photo posts. So I’m building short videos for every track. One per week, 30s each. It’s not just promo — it’s a chance to explore visually.
Collaborating with other artists always brings out things I’d never come up with on my own. And it helps reach people who’d probably love my music but haven’t heard it yet.
Every product I make is a little imperfect. And I’m fine with that. I’d rather have a track record of 10 weird experiments than one thing that took forever and nobody cared about.
Nicole and I are now working on music video concepts to accompany the upcoming track. Like before, we’re thinking one reel per week for four weeks. A story told in fragments.
If you don’t finish something in the time you gave yourself, you’re not there yet. That’s okay. Finish it anyway. Ship it imperfect, try again next time.
After finishing a project, I always feel a little sick of it. So it's kinda nice to plan releases weeks in advance. I need time to forget it a little — to fall in love with it again before I share it.
I hate when product videos feel like ads. I want people to be entertained and only realize it’s a product promo at the very end. It’s a game of curiosity.
Reels on Instagram are now my visual playground. Some abstract, some story-driven. All of them tied to the music. No rules, just me figuring it out as I go.
@thebrokecurator I didn’t overthink the label design. First idea? Good enough. Save the rest for the next product. I’d rather ship 10 imperfect things than spend 3 months chasing the perfect one.
