I have nothing against using older titles to call someone, but in this specific case, I think it is better if we let go of the past, so that brilliant female scholars will not have their female identity blurred just because they are GOOD.

Today a famous Chinese female scholar passed away, but what makes me uncomfortable is that a lot of people call her 叶先生, with the intention to show respect, but with the unintentional effect of blurring her existence as a woman.
