On the 8th of August, I witnessed something far more beautiful than a stitching competition at Sabaat.
I witnessed courage being stitched into confidence. I witnessed pain making way for purpose. I witnessed women who have survived hate and violence stepping forward with dignity, determination and dreams in their eyes.
At Miles2Smile’s Sabaat, our students presented their creations in Groups A, B and C. Every dress carried a story—of creativity, learning, resilience and the determination to rebuild life with their own hands. From bold and flamboyant designs to beautifully balanced colour palettes, each ensemble reflected the unique vision and talent of these incredible women.
We were honoured to have Dr. Ruha Shadab from LedBy Foundation as our Chief Guest, alongside our dedicated Sabaat coordinators and students.
The day also marked the completion of a six-month stitching course. As certificates were distributed, so were stitching kits—because empowerment should not end with a certificate. These kits are a small step towards ensuring that the skills learned at Sabaat can become a source of independence, livelihood and hope.
Sabaat is not just a stitching centre. It is a space where survivors are reclaiming their confidence, rediscovering their strength and stitching together a future of dignity.
My heart is full of pride for every woman who stood there and said, through her work: We survived. We are learning. And we will rise.

The Israeli army committed a terrible crime this morning in Jenin, executing unarmed Palestinian civilian Fathi Khazem inside his home by shooting him seven times.
Fathi Khazem was the father of two sons, Raad and Abdelrahman, both of whom were previously killed by the Israeli army.
Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, the SIR takes a predictable turn
Just 5 BJP-linked men across 5 constituencies filed 6,500 objections seeking to remove voters from the rolls. Every single voter they targeted is Muslim.

Japanese activist Yusuke Furusawa has been staging one-man protests for Gaza for over 1,000 days.
No one is supporting him because he’s not a “Crook” with funded media campaigns, using Gaza for fame, status, or political career
So, I’ll support Yusuke protests—who’s supporting?
Abdul’s father was assaulted by BJP goons. He died. Now @WBPolice wants us to believe the assault had nothing to do with his death?
We will call it what it is: a COMMUNAL ATTACK and MURDER.
We demand justice!
The BJP tells Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs that they don’t exist.
BJP tells Adivasis that their land will be taken, and if they protest, they will be shot.
BJP tells Dalits that their oppression doesn’t matter.
This is what has been done to our country. That needs to be reversed.
Every single person, regardless of religion, caste, age, or gender, must feel: I belong here. I am loved here. I am respected here. And my search for truth matters.

Mama,
I last saw you and Papa together more than 35 years ago. Since the day Papa left, I have watched you face everything life threw at you with never-ending courage and dignity. Only Priyanka and I really know what you have been through, and how difficult your life after Papa truly was.
I am happy, and so proud, that your story - “Belonging: A Journey of Love” - will finally be read by the millions of people who love you. I know how hard it was for someone as private as you to tell the world your beautiful story.
Today, on his birthday, I can see Papa smiling and looking down proudly at his beautiful Sonia.
Love,
Rahul

“To be truly in love with this country is to know how broken this country is”
How fantastically articulated!
@neha_aisa grows from strength to strength.
What a leader and already a very good orator.
“I did a leg amputation on a 5-year-old girl, and the only anesthesia that we had was the anesthesia doctor singing to her… We were praying for her to faint. She stayed awake the whole amputation.”
Absolutely devastating testimony from doctors in Gaza.
A 21 y/o domestic abuse survivor had chuna (lime) poured into her eye by her husband. Her eye is completely damaged and causes severe pain. It will be removed tomorrow, followed later by a prosthetic eye.
She is from a poor family. We need ₹50,000/- for her treatment. Please donate whatever you can. DM for QR/Bank Details. 🙏

Freedom finds its true meaning when every citizen is guaranteed equal opportunity, social justice and dignity. Let us rise above divisions of caste, religion, language and region, and work together to build an inclusive, equal and harmonious society.
Our freedom was won through the courage and sacrifices of millions of Indians. It is our collective responsibility to protect this hard-earned freedom and preserve it for generations to come.
On this Independence Day, I proudly remember and pay tribute to all those who fought for our freedom.
Heartfelt wishes to all Indians on the 80th Independence Day. 🇮🇳
