Israeli occupation authorities have placed Palestinian writer, journalist and political analyst Rasem Obeidat, 67, under six months of administrative detention without formal charges or a public trial.
Obeidat was arrested during a raid on his home in Jabal al-Mukabber, occupied Jerusalem, in the early hours of September 27, 2026, and interrogated at the Moscovia detention center.
On September 29, occupation authorities issued the six-month detention order based on what they described as a “secret file.”

Horrifying footage shows armed Israeli settlers attack a father and his young son in their car in the village of Yabrud, near Ramallah, this morning. The father was injured and has been hospitalized.
The Nobel peace prize was just awarded to the UN official that found Israel guilty of an ongoing genocide
An extraordinary turning point & a vindication of everyone who stood against Israel's atrocities in Gaza!
Palestine was never empty. The camera already knew that.
In 1896–97, the Lumière brothers sent Alexandre Promio to film the Holy Land under Ottoman rule. What he captured is among the earliest moving images of Palestine: Jaffa Port, the courtyard of Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, Jerusalem’s railway station, sacred sites, and people in the streets.
Muslims. Christians. Jews. Walking the same gates, the same roads, the same land.
Not a slogan. Not a later map. Actual footage of a living country called Palestine — ports, churches, stations, markets, worshippers — before partition, before occupation, before the claim that this was a vacant stage waiting for someone else.
Watch the people, not the propaganda. Jaffa was a port. Bethlehem was a town. Jerusalem was a city of three faiths under one sky. That is the historical record, not a talking point.
Palestine had a name. Palestine had people. The film is still there.

ISRAELI FORCES RAID HOME OF VETERAN PALESTINIAN JOURNALIST, ISSUE ULTIMATUM
Israeli forces raided the home of Palestinian journalist Ali al-Samoudi in Jenin in the occupied West Bank, assaulting his son and ordering the veteran reporter to surrender within one hour.
Al-Samoudi, 59, was not at home during the raid, and it remains unclear whether he will comply with the demand. The journalist was released in April after spending a year in Israeli administrative detention without charge.
Following his release, al-Samoudi said he suffered severe weight loss due to deliberate food deprivation and accused Israeli prison authorities of torture, physical abuse and denial of basic rights.
The raid comes days after Israeli forces detained Palestinian journalists Sabri Mousa Jibril and Muath Ammarna during separate operations in Bethlehem. Palestinian media organisations say journalists in the occupied territories are facing increasing pressure through arrests, raids, assaults and restrictions on reporting.
According to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, 84 violations against media workers were documented in August alone, including arrests, attacks on reporting crews, obstruction of coverage and destruction of journalistic equipment.
If journalists are increasingly subjected to raids, arrests and intimidation while carrying out their work, who will ensure accountability for violations against press freedom in the occupied Palestinian territories?

For decades, B’Tselem has documented violence, demolitions, displacement and the dispossession of Palestinians from their land in the West Bank.
Raj’in (“We Shall Return”) brings this documentation work into a new medium.
Co-created by Faiz Abu Rmeleh and Keren Manor and co-produced by B’Tselem and NowHere Media, the film, which is currently being screened as part of the Venice International Film Festival, was shot with 360° cameras and also incorporates footage filmed by Palestinian residents and protective presence activists. Through virtual reality, it places viewers inside the spaces where Palestinian shepherding communities in the West Bank face Israeli violence, demolitions and displacement from their land.
Since October 2023, 65 Palestinian communities have been entirely forcibly displaced, while another 18 have been partially displaced. More than 4,861 people have been driven from their homes and land, including at least 2,315 children.
