@johnsnolan @Acrocomic @goodreade gets around! I happened to be in Dublin for a wedding recently, was walking through Stephen's Green and who should I bump into ...
I've been working in tech for about 15 years now, the 2 years I spent working with John stand out for me in terms of how much I learned and improved. An outstanding engineer and great technical leader!
So, I’m reducing my time with the @metoffice

@johnsnolan@Twitter I’ve been enjoying Feedbin John, you can subscribe to individual twitter handles, blogs and newsletters through it. No recommendation algorithms. Would highly recommend it.
I moderate /r/kafka and people often mistake for a subreddit about the programming language. Our users have almost spontaneously developed their own way for dealing with this confusion. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Having considered the Climate Action and Low Carbon Development (Amendment) Bill 2021, the President has signed the Bill and it has accordingly become law.
@normonics Hi Joe, I often agree with you, I'm in the Green Party in Ireland, and one of our core principles is subsidiarity, the delegation of power to the lowest effective level. For something like climate change though, doesn't that require a trans-national global response?
Fiú le linn tréimhse chrua, níor chaill muintir na hEorpa misneach!
🇮🇪 I mBÁC, tá Liz ag tnúth le hathoscailt a gruagaire áitiúil, áit chruinnithe.
Idir an dá linn, tugann sí daoine le chéile le biongó ar líne. Beidh an bua againn in aghaidh na paindéime. Ar scáth a chéile.
@alexstapleton That's interesting, thanks. Following @rjs and @basecamp, particularly https://t.co/rU7BTo2RUL, since we've gone remote, I've been trying to steer the team to be async first in our communications. I guess I haven't figured out what mentorship looks like in that context.
When reviewing code, I review the code that's there, but sometimes miss the code that's not there and should be.
It's a particular problem when reviewing junior developer's code. Does that happen to anybody else? Are there any tricks to mitigate it?
Clare Greens are holding a night of short, informal talks, loosely on the topics of built environment and active travel. It should be fun and informative and is open to everybody via Zoom.
Hope you can make it!

I wonder is the expansion in mail-in voting responsible for the big turnout in the US elections?
Is this another example of how removing the requirement for something to be done in person makes it more accessible and increases participation rates?
This is an inspiring story: https://t.co/BW2hZERYbF - I wonder if it's applicable in more areas of retail? I hope that our post-pandemic world is going to be more local and more intimate.
@jacknolanlabour @MichRogCook @RoisinGarvey@CormacMcQuinn Amongst other things. Also, in terms of rural Ireland, Roisin is one of the only Green Party candidates ever elected in a predominantly rural constituency. To accuse her, of all of the members of the Green Party of condescending to rural people seems a bit misplaced.
@jacknolanlabour @MichRogCook @RoisinGarvey@CormacMcQuinn I feel like we’re splitting hairs a bit here but she didn’t say that you should only use small words when speaking to Travellers, she said she learned the importance of inclusive language from her work with Travellers. Which, as it happens, was giving maths and literacy workshops
@romagraphic@RoisinGarvey @TravActivist @CormacMcQuinn@greenparty_ie Hi there. In this case Roisin was talking about her work organising maths and literacy workshops for travellers which she did for years here in Clare.
@taragilsenan @LadyDisdain4@RoisinGarvey Sorry, I thought about this and I was wrong to suggest you were acting in bad faith earlier. Apologies for that. I do think if you take the quote in context ( and with context missing in the article but from the actual debate itself ) that's a very uncharitable interpretation.
@conorgmcnamara @sileginnane @sasanovak48 @LimerickGreens @BrianLeddin @seanohartigan @RoisinGarvey Just in terms of Roisin condescending to rural Ireland, she’s one of the only Greens ever to be elected to anything in rural Ireland.
@conorgmcnamara @sileginnane @sasanovak48 @LimerickGreens @BrianLeddin @seanohartigan @RoisinGarvey Sorry, not being smart, but which quote are you actually talking about? The headline isn’t a quote.
