According to a China Press exclusive report, former Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay revealed that he faced a reduction in his powers and internal pressure within the police force because of his firm commitment to integrity and combating corruption.

*Targeted for fighting corruption and stripped of powers:*
Ayob Khan said that throughout his career, he maintained a “zero-compromise” approach towards corruption and abuse of power, even if it meant offending his fellow officers. However, after being appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, he was stripped of the substantive management authority he had previously exercised over 10 major departments at Bukit Aman. As a result, he lost much of his influence over the direction and policies of the police force.

His role reduced to a “ceremonial position”:
After losing his management authority, his main duties were reduced largely to representing the police force at various official functions, leaving him with little involvement in substantive decision-making.

*Unable to rise beyond the No. 2 position:*
He acknowledged that because he refused to compromise his principles and remained committed to enforcing the law, he ultimately had to stop at the second-highest position in the police force — Deputy Inspector-General of Police. This prevented him from carrying out more comprehensive reforms within the police force.
