@MsJodebruin@TadhgCalbhaigh I think the rules are looser if you are renting part of a house like a room or if you or direct family are living it alongside the tenant.
A corporate landlord is a different situation
@horse_says_nay@Alexarmstrong Restore are not credible, they are a few councillors, some chronically online fanboys and a seething septuagenarian leader with zero friends.
@solanaduggy@degendaveb@MacroCRG I wonder what the detail on it was, feels like an oddly specific exemption. I do think if you pay the NHS charge and don't settle here with permanent residence you should get an NI rebate.
@MacroCRG Every time the UK has had a Chancellor that spend for growth in the last decade it has ended in more borrowing and no sustained stimulus.
People need to understand the budget process, the treasury does not dictate every departments policies.
@MacroCRG Don't think the choice of Chancellor will move the dial much. On paper Reeves is doing exactly what she should be doing, having spending and borrowing rules and sticking to them.
There is only so much a Chancellor can do, the balance sheet and the bond market are in control.
@phoebaeticus@kunley_drukpa Nah its time you boys stood on your own and self governed, like actually governed, not Stormont daycare, NI is world's apart from the rest of the UK and Ireland. It needs to grow up into a real country. You can still have HRH as head of State, like Australia.
@_MichaelOswell_@DeepDishEnjoyer I don't think it would be smart. Income inequality is a pillar of capitalism, so we'd probably need to rethink that.
I'd much prefer they work on inequality of aspirations and opportunity.
The truth is in the UK the greatest way to boost your income are elocution lessons.
@_MichaelOswell_@DeepDishEnjoyer I'm being facetious, you could throw a lot of it into pension to limit tax exposure.
It's just not a good look for an economy.
@samofsamshire Lib Dems will say whatever they like to appease the local NIMBY/YIMBY vote. They are consistently at odds with each other on things like the fren belt congestion charges.
