The Duggan’s Ordeal Part #6: In two day’s time political prisoner #FreeDanDuggan will have been locked up in his own country, in maximum security solitary confinement on the say-so of the United State government. This is a horrific breach of Australian sovereignty and a nightmare for an Australian family of eight.
In the entire time Dan was in Silverwater he was not allowed to exercise - at all - he did not see the sun, trees, things that are vital to physical and mental health. This would continue when he was transferred in March to Lithgow prison, just in time for the weather to get cool. Just over the Blue Mountains from Sydney. Dan remains locked up in maximum security, solitary confinement in a 2mx4m cell in Lithgow. His neighbours were convicted rapists, murderers and terrorists. It gets cold in Lithgow, this last mild winter temperatures were below or close to zero pretty much every morning, hitting -8 degrees on severaloccasions. The conditions in Dan’s cell are sparse.The freezing air gets in and wraps itself around you. Prisoners are given inadequate bedding. Sometimes, too often the heating does not work - not checked by prison guards as they hit the allewgdodgy switch on their way out in the evening. The food is barely edible and would fail basic nutrition tests.
Dan’s case is the subject of a complaint to the United Nations Human Rights Committee, on the grounds that his ongoing harsh custodial conditions constitute four violations of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
The violations are:
● Failure to protect Dan from inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment;
● Failure to segregate Dan from convicted prisoners;
● Violation of Dan’s right to adequate facilities for the preparation of his defence; and
● Violation of Dan’s right to confidential communication.
Dan, his legal team and his family still did not know why he was being treated like a convicted criminal, they still do not know. The only “evidence” against Dan was from a US government document that cannot be tested in an Australian court.

@Quokka123456@ChristyDanFan Get a grip, a seat with a majority of first nations peoples votes overwhelming YES, who do you think put in the papers.
Stop believing Dutton and the LNP powered by Murdoch Reinhardt and Palmer.
They simply won using the Trump playbook of lies spoken as truth, deception.
The thing is with white people in Aus. You think Blackfullas haven’t faced this depravity before. We’ve faced it everyday. For the “No” it was a SuperBowl. For me it was Saturday.
Israel war crimes in action and to hell with what the world thinks. Eliminate Palestine the end game. They will never repair Gaza and are taking over the West bank bit by bit. Netanyahu should be in the Doc in Der Haag.
Right now, in Gaza, the situation is horrific and catastrophic.
Those hospitals and clinics that have not been evacuated are overwhelmed and are barely functioning. No electricity, no medical supplies. Surgeons in Al-Shifa hospital are now operating without painkillers.
Patients risk their lives either by moving, or by staying behind, in both cases perhaps to die without treatment.
People are trapped, unable to escape, with absolutely nowhere safe to go.
They’re deprived of essential needs – water, food, protected shelter, medicines.
@FloRoberts93 I'm old enough to rember every word of "blowing in the wind" by Peter Paul & Mary.
Google it.
Netanyahu is simply a hard right war monger like Ariel Sharon before him. Storming into the Al Aska Mosque deliberately provoking hatred and tension
It's turning into a genocide.
For decades, the people of Palestine have been forced to deal with a brutal military occupation. They have seen their homes demolished and loved ones shot dead. Trying to help the situation in #Palestine can seem daunting but we can make a difference.

100% agree it amounts to a genocide after decades of persecution by Israel since the partition of Palestine in 1945 this is what Netanyahu has been praying for. War monger that his.
I am feeling the pain of all those in Gaza without water, food, electricity or safety and all those families who have lost loved ones including children.
Head of Aboriginal Family Legal Services Queensland Kathleen Wincen: “The racism, the ignorance, the refusal to consider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people has been heart-wrenching... With the highest no vote, as Indigenous peoples we have to consider our safety now.”
Leaders must lead.
No more hesitancy, no more excuses. No more waiting for others to move first. There is simply no more time.
The fossil-fuelled climate crisis is accelerating, and the Government must escalate its response accordingly.

The Voice campaign, rather than bringing Australians together, has instead been used by @PeterDutton_MP , Murdoch media and far right organisations to inject the Trumpian “post truth” tactics into Aust politics. Worst of all our MSM have nearly all embraced this dangerous tactic.
100% agree Charles. What is wrong with these people, why the hate? Why the Trumpian play book? Their lust for power knows no bounds.
Mongrels one and all.
Give it a rest Mal. For the length of the “campaign” you have spread the lies and misinformation of the “no” campaign. You have achieved your goal, hope you are pleased with yourself.
Albanese has to bring the ABC to heel! The biased representation trotted out for the No campaign was blatantly obvious. The same misinformation being pedaled out was sickening. Yes interviews in front of No signs!! News editors and program producers need to be exposed or sacked!
With all the sadness and trauma in the world, today might be a day to remember how very lucky all Australians are to live in this most beautiful of lands, and to send love, compassion and a hope for peace to those in Israel and Gaza.
One positive thing @AlboMP could do is to take the referendum result this weekend, and view it as a mandate to removal all aligned voices to parliament. It is reasonable to view it that way. No more Mining Council, Pharmacy Guild, the lot… cut them all off. Completely.
If the results of the Voice to Parliament referendum reveal anything, it’s that perhaps ignorance really is bliss, Crikey readers vex. “Why did we commit such a shameless act?”
