The post implies Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 unprovoked.

The PLO had been using southern Lebanon as a military base for over a decade, conducting continuous rocket and terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians.

In 1974 PLO militants crossed from Lebanon and massacred 18 people in the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona, 8 of them children.

That same year they seized a school in Ma’alot and killed 25 more, mostly children.

In 1978 Fatah hijacked a bus on Israel’s coastal highway and murdered 38 civilians including 13 children, the single worst terrorist attack in Israeli history at the time.

These weren’t isolated incidents.

Between 1978 and 1982, northern Israeli towns were under routine Katyusha rocket bombardment, with residents spending months in bomb shelters.

By the time Israel invaded, the PLO had an estimated 15,000 to 18,000 fighters in Lebanon with artillery, rocket launchers, and anti-aircraft weapons.

“Hezbollah didn’t exist” is purposefully a lie.

And like all liars he doesn’t talk about why the PLO were in Lebanon. It’s called Black September.

The PLO had been expelled from Jordan by force in 1970, not by Israel, but by King Hussein, an Arab leader who decided their state-within-a-state had become an existential threat to his country.

They slaughtered thousands of them.

They then moved to Lebanon and did the same thing: undermined the government, helped ignite a civil war, and built a military infrastructure pointed at Israel.

When Israel finally invaded and expelled the PLO, Iran rushed into the vacuum and created Hezbollah, something far more dangerous and durable.

But the best part is that the massacre the post alludes to, Sabra and Shatila, was real and genuinely horrifying. But the killers were Lebanese Christian Phalangist militias, not IDF soldiers.

The post collapses all of this complexity into three sentences designed to produce outrage, not understanding.

Which is something every single piece of propaganda does. They hope you don’t know your history.
