We are the heart of the American labor movement. Our fight for social and economic justice continues to be threatened. Everyone who works for a living shares our basic economic interests. Only through partnerships, grassroots efforts and coalitions can our movement grow.
โImprovements to child protection would not have
been possible without support from co-workers in the union.
We advocated for children and families with one voice,
strengthening our message to reach those who could help us create
positive change.โโ Peter MacKinnon, social worker
Missouri voters yesterday voted to reject the stateโs private sector Right to Work (for Less) law. Thank you, Missouri voters, And last school year, thank you educational employees in West Virginia, Kentucky, Arizona and Colorado.
Unions are more important than ever. Gallup research shows that more than 3 in 5 Americans have a favorable view of labor unions. Thatโs the highest level in nearly 15 years! #IFTstrong! https://t.co/r0n9dZqy5S
WHAT'S A UNION? it's a group of colleagues who come together to advance their common interests with collective power. A union is not an outside organization/third party; it is a democratic organization run by its members who make decisions and set direction on their own behalf.
Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours, and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor.
