🚨 BREAKING: Senator Imee Marcos’s recent explosive claims have taken center stage in the Senate, sparking major backlash and formal denials from her colleagues particularly Minority Leader Vicente "Tito" Sotto III and Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson.

​Her "expose" centers around a major political conspiracy plot that connects directly to the upcoming 2028 presidential elections.

​1. The Alleged "Con-Ass" Term Extension Plot

​Senator Marcos claimed that there are secret, backroom movements within Congress and Senate minority to convene a Constituent Assembly (Con-Ass) to amend the 1987 Constitution.

She alleged that the true goal of this Charter Change (Cha Cha) push is to:

- ​Extend the term of her brother, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., and other sitting lawmakers.

- ​Keep the current administration in power well past their regular term limits.

​2. Weaponizing the Age Requirement Against Sara Duterte

​The most controversial part of her claim is that lawmakers are actively conspiring to change the constitutional qualifications for the presidency.

Specifically, she exposed an alleged plan to raise the minimum age requirement for a Philippine President from 45 years old to 50 years old.

​According to Senator Marcos, this specific amendment is a targeted political hit designed solely to disqualify Vice President Sara Duterte from running for president in the 2028 elections, as Duterte would not yet be 50 by that time.

⚠️ What is the final step for a Con-Ass to be legal?

​Even if Senators and Congressmen successfully agree on a vote and pass a proposed amendment through a Con-Ass, it does not automatically become law.

​Under Section 4 of Article XVII, any change proposed by a Con-Ass is only a proposal.

It is completely invalid until it is submitted to the Filipino people and ratified by a majority of the votes cast in a national plebiscite.

Ultimately, the politicians can draft the changes, but the public gets the final legal say.
