My Day with Peter Obi: A Journey of Compassion and Commitment

What a man, what a day. When Peter Obi called me at 00:48 am yesterday, informing me of our trip to Kaduna and Kano, I could sense the urgency and purpose in his voice. By 6 am, I left my hotel to meet him, and he casually mentioned he’d slept at 2 am and was up by 5 am, yet his energy was unshakable. This is the man Nigeria needs, a leader whose heart beats for the people and whose actions speak louder than promises.

Today’s journey was not just a tour; it was a testament to why Peter Obi is uniquely equipped to govern Nigeria with integrity and vision. We started early, heading to the airport, though a brief weather delay tested our patience. Undeterred, we took off for Kaduna. Upon landing, we went straight to Sheikh Yusuf Sambo Rigachukwu’s Islamic School, where Obi made his second visit, donating generously to support its mission. His commitment to education shone through as we moved to an Almajiri school in Kawo; his fifth visit there, having already completed a donation of ₦20,250,000. The gratitude in the eyes of the students and teachers was palpable, a reflection of his consistent care. From there, we visited the Womanhood School of Health Technology, where he donated ₦5 million, followed by another ₦10 million to St. Gerald School of Nursing. Each stop was deliberate, each donation a step toward empowering communities through education and health; key pillars for Nigeria’s progress. Obi’s ability to identify and address critical needs sets him apart from the typical politician. His actions are not for show; they are rooted in a genuine desire to uplift.

By 2 pm, we were en route to Kano, arriving by 3 pm at the home of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata to pay condolences. His respect for tradition and empathy for grieving families was evident. We then visited mosques in Fagge, where he fulfilled a pledge of ₦2 million, reinforcing his commitment to community welfare. At the late Alhaji Maitama Sule’s residence, we offered more condolences, and later, at the Farm Centre Phone Market, Obi commiserated with traders who lost 70 shops to a fire. His presence brought hope to those reeling from loss.

What struck me most was Peter Obi’s spirit, his unwavering conviction that Nigeria can be better. Unlike other politicians, his concern is not performative; it’s deeply authentic.
His stamina, compassion, and focus on tangible impact reveal a leader who doesn’t just talk about change but lives it.

Today’s journey across Kaduna and Kano showcased a man whose vision, discipline, and empathy make him the ideal leader to govern Nigeria well. Peter Obi is not just a politician; he’s a movement for a better future. What a man, what a day.

Our Engagement with General Abacha: Setting the Record Straight

In consonance with my established principles of defending everything I am involved in, and in the interest of all men and women of goodwill, especially those committed to the pursuit of truth, I hereby attach the letter which documents my co-opting, along with others, into the Taskforce on the decongestion of the Ports.

As I stated during my interview at the weekend and consistently maintained in the past, I had never met General Sani Abacha before that encounter. Our meeting with him was borne out of collective concern as traders and importers over the prolonged delays in clearing goods at the ports. We approached him not as political actors, but as concerned citizens seeking pragmatic solutions to a matter affecting economic activity and livelihoods.

Our intention was clear: to advocate for efficiency, and to propose practical steps towards restoring normalcy in port operations for the benefit of the wider business community and, ultimately, the Nigerian economy.

This clarification is offered in the interest of truth, to reaffirm that our actions were driven solely by a sense of civic duty and not political ambition.

I don't expect this copious evidence to bury this Abacha case because the mischief makers have ulterior motives, but it's being placed in the public space for posterity and in line with my transparency pledge to Nigerians on any issue I am involved in. -PO
