youngk, who previously seldom said or wrote the phrase “i love you” because he thought it was something weighty, eventually decided to express it more confidently towards the end of 2019 🤍

🦊: we [day6] are musicians who sing and make many love songs, so i started asking myself what this emotion and concept called love means, and it was hard [for me to find the answer]

people sometimes would lightheartedly scream, “we love you! thank you!”, but those words didn’t use to come easily for me. i’d think to myself if i was really loving

since i didn’t know what love means, i started writing “i wanna love” in our lyrics at one point and remember omitting a lot of [direct] phrases like “i love you” and “i’m loving you”

there was also a time when a fan asked me why i didn’t seem to use the word “love” much in our lyrics and i said it was because i still couldn’t define the concept of love

i attended u2’s concert in 2019 and they kept shouting “i love you” on stage, also saying that they hoped the audience would love. in a way, they were spreading love

i realised that the love that was being spread from one person to another didn’t diminish and the fact that many people in the venue received such love felt like it increased instead. that was when i realised love doesn’t necessarily have to be a weighty thing that’s selectively used or expressed

love is something good and if the world could be more amplified and filled with love as we spread it and let it get known more widely, i thought i should more confidently scream it out

so, i remember confidently screaming that out at a concert towards the end of that year. i hope many people spend days overflowing with love
