One of the great joys of early childhood is watching young children experience things for the first time. Today I want to talk about allowing them the time and space to do so - which is something this video illustrates beautifully.
This little one is fresh from the bath and has discovered that her fingers have pruned. You need to watch baby, of course, but - just as importantly - listen to mom, who demonstrates a brain building mix of support and restraint in her approach to the situation.
Noticing that her child is experiencing something puzzling, she doesn’t jump right in to offer explanations, but instead asks a question: “What happened to your hands?”
Next she offers some new vocabulary to help describe the situation: “They got all wrinkly from the bath tub.”
At this point baby tries both licking and wiping off the wrinkles to see if they can be removed.
Mom doesn’t correct her, but instead asks one more clarifying question (about the baby’s removal attempts): “Can you get it off?”
Throughout, she remains reassuringly calm and even toned. Her unspoken message equal parts “nothing to fear here” and “oh, how interesting.”
In doing so, she’s allowing her daughter the time and space to construct a deeper understanding of the situation (that she’ll be able to draw on for her next bath time).
As the video ends, her daughter asks for help… and we can presume she offers some additional explanation… at just the right moment.
Nicely played, mom. 🥇

@tajiareed Seems like she was still around them as a couple , their baby etc and then as soon as they split she steps right in. if that was really her friend she should’ve encouraged him to work things out with his wife, you go through growing pains when kids get involved. Not a girls girl
Its ok if you have been lazy bc it is very hot outside. Hot makes sleepy. And you’re just a person. So you’re gonna be sleepy. It’s not bc you’re bad…. You’re good. And pretty
