Ethiopia: Reports that election scheduled for 1 June already completed in some polling areas in secret by the regime, without the participation of citizens. Only a ceremonial photo still to be taken
When a village is massacred, humanity weeps. 🕊️ Over 20 innocent lives were taken by Abiy Ahmed’s Fano-backed forces, leaving families shattered. Raise your voice. Demand accountability. @CNN@hrw#EndOromoGenocide
Abiy turned Ethiopia into a hell on earth where innocent civilians are slaughtered and burnt alive every single day. He destroyed all social fabric and now trying to cause horizontal unending bloodshed. Behind all gruesome graphic atrocities being committed everywhere in Ethiopia, you would find the secret hand of Abiy’s PP administration-federal, regional, zonal, wereda and kebele levels. The gruesome beheading committed against an Oromo boy from Salale is no different. Local PP administrations in both North Shewas of Amhara and Oromia know best why they are committing extensive atrocities and horror in Darra.
On June 14, 2024, local Oromo farmers had a wedding in the Nonno district of West Shewa, Oromia, in a locality called Qondala. Around midnight, a group of armed men, who were stationed in the area to fight against the OLA alongside the national defense force, entered the compound, locked up everyone in the homes, and bombed them all. Twenty (20) including the bride and bridegroom were burnt to the ashes and four others survived to get to Woliso Hospital. Those who managed to break houses in the compound and tried to escape were shot by bullets. Some local reports show that the number of casualties including those killed by bullets could rise to fifty (50). Nonno district of Oromia shares a border with Central Ethiopia Region, close to Walkiete town. Wonchi, a place where Abiy Ahmed had pictures taken on horseback today and widely being shared on social media, is only 3 hours rural drive from Nonno where the massacres took place two days ago. The perpetrators are reportedly Amhara armed men who often collaborate with the national defense forces to fight against the OLA operatives. As a result, they were allowed to arm themselves. When an entire wedding family and extended family were burnt to the ground, the national defense forces were located not far from the locality where the burning was taking place during the night. One could suspect the hands of the government for this barbaric act against Oromo civilians. It shows Abiy Ahmed fomenting inter communal violence and blood shade. Similar symptoms are being seen across Oromia region. All rights groups should investigate the matter even if there will be no peace and no justice for the innocent people in Ethiopia as long as Abiy Ahmed is out there. @UNHumanRights@hrw@AmnestyEARO@LaurenBinDC@BBCAfrica@ReutersAfrica
#UN report reveals surge in human rights violations in #Ethiopia
The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (#OHCHR) issued a damning report detailing a disturbing rise in human rights abuses in Ethiopia throughout 2023. The report documented a staggering 594 incidents impacting 8,253 victims, representing a significant 56% increase compared to the previous year.
State actors, including the Ethiopian National Defense Force (#ENDF) and regional police forces, are allegedly responsible for a shocking 70% of these violations, affecting over 7,100 victims.
The #Amhara region bore the brunt of these abuses, with a documented 740 civilian deaths, primarily attributed to government security forces. The report also highlights the role of the Fano militia group. “The Fano militia group and its allies killed at least 52 people,” reported Elizabeth Throssell, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office.
Watch!
These Oromo political prisoners were welcomed back to Ethiopia in September 2018, with millions of turn outs. Shocked by the popular legitimacy they enjoy, Abiy determined to keep them behind bars without any crime or court ruling. Free them all!
