This is for PTs and PT students on X:

Yet I keep seeing PTs and PT students acting like “wannabe” doctors.

👀: you’re not a doctor, and you won’t be one unless you go back and study MBBS.

I respect the level of clinical reasoning we’re taught as PTs, and most of us only get better with practice and specialization. But it’s not at the level of a specialist doctor, especially in internal medicine. There’s a reason we’re trained to know when to refer.

PTs are rehabilitation experts. No one else in the clinical team combines knowledge of body systems, biomechanics, sociology, psychology, and therapy (manual, thermo, electro, etc.) the way we do. We can reason clinically, work independently, and bring a unique perspective to patient care. Our lane is different from doctors’ lane. They keep patients alive; we make their lives worth living by returning them to near-normal function. We spend more time with patients, families, and their support networks.

Stop arguing about who’s smarter or better. It’s pointless, unprofessional, and frankly ridiculous.

It’s not about who’s “smarter”; it’s about different expertise, complementary roles, and knowing when to collaborate. Doctors rely on PTs just as much as PTs sometimes rely on doctors, that’s how modern healthcare system works.

Also, please stop arguing with medical students who clearly don’t know how the real world works yet. You’ll never see a knowledgeable physician engaging on these baseless arguments on x.
