.@AnthropicAI, makers of Claude AI, will take a temporary hit from the Trump administration’s “retaliation” for not bending, bowing or breaking.

I’ll add, pleading, in the bluntest possible terms:
Please do not be misled by the misunderstandings and the disinformation, or by the groupthink of the lunatic-left. Don’t be a moron.
This wave—and the coming waves—of AI cannot be stopped. It’s now part the world we live in, an irresistible facet of the culmination of centuries of techno-capitalism. The march of this flavor of progress simply cannot be stopped; best we can do is to deploy & use it wisely, and we’ll need to!
We NEED to deploy & use AI wisely for ourselves, for the sake of our loved ones and the future of our world, to combat its negligent & maleficent use by the powers-that-be, because they are absolutely deploying & using it, at breakneck pace, to dominate us all. Unless, that is, you’d prefer to simply surrender and give up right now??

Quelle surprise from the fascist Trump regime!—I can openly say Trump’s a ‘fascist’ now!! Donald Trump’s a Fascist. Fascist. Fascist. Trump openly admitted to and boasted about being a fascist. Fascists gonna fascist. Donald Trump’s a Fascist. Fascist. Fascist.
Wow, cool, Google DeepMind just had their leapfrog moment, with Gemini 3 Pro mostly beating the competition (GPT-5.1, Claude Sonnet 4.5) on most benchmarks.
DeepMind is the OG commercial ‘deep neural network’ research & development lab. With their history and massive resources (compute!) one might have expected DeepMind to be a first-mover and market-dominator. But they were one-upped by OpenAI in 2022, three years ago, with the release of ChatGPT. DeepMind has not made such a relativity more capable and competitive model, with a clearer technical lead, especially with its 2-3x improvement on difficult benchmarks like ARC-AGI-2, since then, until now.

@MattWalshBlog and what should a world government do,
if such a thing existed?
can you apply the same logic to cooperation,
between family members, between families,
and so forth, up the chain of ‘in-group’?
(noting that the size of each ‘in-group’ grows while moving up this chain)
@MattWalshBlog I would change that last sentence to:
“Are we really just going to lie down and let
*unregulated runaway capitalism wielding AI*
take everything from us? Is that the plan?”
At present AI has ZERO agency,
so it makes no sense to use language
that insinuates it has such.🤔
AI is going to wipe out at least 25 million jobs in the next 5 to 10 years. Probably much more. It will destroy every creative field. It will make it impossible to discern reality from fiction. It will absolutely obliterate what’s left of the education system. Kids will go through 12 years of grade school and learn absolutely nothing. AI will do it all for them. We have already seen the last truly literate generation.
All of this is coming, and fast. There is still time to prevent some of the worst outcomes, or at least put them off. But our leaders aren’t doing a single thing about any of this. None of them are taking it seriously. We’re sleepwalking into a dystopia that any rational person can see from miles away. It drives me nuts. Are we really just going to lie down and let AI take everything from us? Is that the plan?
not surprised
we all knew that this was in the tea leaves
as the inevitable trajectory of the ‘dems’
you could feel it. i could feel it
i 100% GIVE UP on ‘dems’
whatever the f ‘dems’ even means
time for something new
time for something different
On Humanist Superintelligence
Mustafa Suleyman (background in philosophy and human rights) is an OG figure in AI.
Suleyman was genuinely pilot wave (before the first wave!) in the modern deep learning era. He co-founded DeepMind alongside Demis Hassabis and Shane Legg in 2010. All of this predated the 2012 AlexNet that kicked-off the deep neural network explosion (scaling laws and all) that led right into our current era of ChatGPT, Claude, Sora, robotics, GPUs, >$2TN global investment committed or otherwise, and all the rest. AI go brrrrr!
In the 2010s, Suleyman helped build one of the world’s leading AI research labs, DeepMind, before and after it was acquired by Google (2014). After leaving DeepMind in 2019, he was a VP at Google for two years, departing in 2022. Suleyman founded Inflection AI with their Pi assistant later in 2022. In early 2024, Microsoft hired Suleyman to lead Microsoft AI (MAI), positioning him as CEO of this division.
Suleyman’s background gives him an unusual perspective: he’s both deeply technical and deeply concerned with the societal implications of AI.
Suleyman today presented a thoughtful and wise further contribution to the discussion,
“Humanist Superintelligence” (link in comments):
Instead of RACING to build general capabilities with safety bolted on (as we currently do; the method employed by all major labs & companies),
the UNBOUNDED thing in the first place (!!!),
Build powerful but circumscribed systems.
Rather than RACE, as we do today, between labs & companies and between nations, let’s do “differential technological development”, carefully accelerating in specific beneficial directions while deliberately NOT building in others.
Can the labs & companies agree to this? Can the nations? This just may be the single most existentially desperate political question, ever. When I joke that our national & global politics may be dominated by AI questions before the end of this decade, this is what I mean. I hope, for all our sakes, that it is.
Suleyman writes “No AI developer, no safety researcher, no policy expert, no person I’ve encountered has a reassuring answer” to the containment/alignment question. We don’t know how to guarantee control of a truly general superintelligence that’s constantly improving itself.
Or, is Suleyman’s work philosophical political posturing because Microsoft is behind in the AI race? Who knows. And even if that’s all or partly true, Suleyman’s prescription might still be the right move! So, brainfuck. Another one! LOL
All of these dynamics together make it all the more important for an informed citizenry to rapidly and greatly improve their AI fluency and understanding of these issues, because that’s where the power and money have moved! (effectively)
@OzraeliAvi @sp0007up I’ve been waiting and waiting and waiting for this penny to drop!
It took them freaking LONG ENOUGH!
Do conservatives have the stamina to keep up the needed momentum? Only time will tell. Hell, I’ll pitch in for free Viagra for them if that would help!!
