WHO SHOULD BE OUR @CharliesDCJR PLAYER OF THE WEEK?!

Voting ends Monday at noon! #BCSNnation

[Joe Nugent @joenuge]

Southview football will have a fresh feel with Jeremy Rowe leading the program. The staff is a collection of several former @southviewcougar players with college experience. Including the likes of Shaun Joplin, Austin Valdez, Kelley Rowe, Jeff Rowe and more.

Thank you, Coach Mayzes! Tonight the Cougars and Sylvania honored Coach Mayzes for his 25 years as head coach of the Southview Cougar Football team. We thank you for your time and dedication to over 600 senior Cougars. 🏈🧡 #CougarPride #Dedication #SylvaniaWorks

[Joe Nugent @joenuge]

There were serious thoughts of coaching another half dozen years but Jim Mayzes is hanging it up at Southview with a state championship plus 11 NLL titles in 25 years. He also grinded it out for 5 years as an assistant. Jim’s unique style and huge results leave special memories

Here is my conversation with retiring Southview football coach Jim Mayzes:

[James mayzes @james_mayzes]

I am truly blessed to have known the players, families and coaches that have touched my life throughout my 30 years with Southview football. I am totally overwhelmed by the outreach of well wishes sparking so many memories from everyone. Thank you and God bless. Go Cougars!

[Jordan Strack @JordanStrack]

Jim Mayzes tells me he has officially retired after 25 years as the head football coach at Southview.

He won a state championship in 2008. They were the runner-up in 1999.

My waiter asked “Now, do we want straws OR do we want to save the turtles?” and honestly we all deserve that environmental guilt trip
