Germany’s universal welfare system is one of the most comprehensive in Europe, covering healthcare, unemployment benefits, pensions, housing aid, family subsidies, and more. But the strain of demographic aging, high immigration, and mounting debt obligations has led to growing political pressure to reform or scale back entitlements.

Ukraine has recently launched 3 attacks against the oil pipeline supplying Hungary and Slovakia.

Zelensky wants us to change our position on Ukraine's EU membership in order to stop these attacks on our energy security. The EU says nothing in defense of its members.

Perhaps it's appropriate to remind the Ukrainian leaders that we were honest from the beginning: Hungary never supported this war, we said from the beginning that we won't deliver weapons because this is not our war and escalation is not in our interest. We advocated for a peace deal. Hungary provided humanitarian assistance, fuel, energy to Ukraine and safe haven for refugees coming to Hungary.

In spring 2022 it was their Western allies, Biden, Johnson, von der Leyen, Macron and others who promised weapons and victory to Ukraine and then failed to deliver on their promise, not us.

You cannot sabotage or blackmail your way to EU membership. If that is another irresponsible promise they made to you in Brussels, that's not on us either.
