One of the most interesting things within the reading was the theory that we have multiple intelligences based on certain things. It's amazing to think that we have could have different types of intelligence based on a specific area & not around our whole knowledge!

I found it to be very interesting as to how much we grow within the first five years of our lives. Being able to go from crying and babbling to showing emotions and speaking words all within a few years. It's amazing to see how we develop!

@manarnarrrr That's true! We can't force our own beliefs on people since they might think differently than we do. It's amazing to see how social workers can put aside their beliefs and focus on the client in an unbiased process!

Josie's case helped me realize that more teens need to be educated on pregnancy and its developmental stages. It's up to social workers to help provide these materials and knowledge for them so that these teens have a plan moving forward into their lives!

@TialRoselyne I absolutely agree with you and I see it for myself. Why should we have these beauty standards based on racial stereotypes? Everyone is beautiful in their own way. Someone's skin color should not make them ugly or beautiful, but rather the qualities that make them beautiful!

It's truly awful that we still have racism today and cultural racism theory definitely feeds into it. These stereotypes that put a negative light on other cultures is disgraceful. These cultures deserve better and should be treated equally with all other cultures.

@GessicaJomes It's true and I like seeing these social norms challenged so that they may be improved upon. It's good to have people who question these values so that everyone can agree upon acceptable social norms.

#UMBCSOWK388 Functionalist theory provides us with the view of society as one, living being we all keep alive. But, what about the people in poverty or homeless? Why are they not given the chances to provide to society? Why do we ignore them to achieve our stability?

This week's reading has really helped me understand how depth is in one's life and how anything from it can be analyzed. The example with Juan has really shown that a lot of things can take over your life, some being a lot bigger than others!
