@naomiberhe20 For some, it can be very easy to gloss over this thinking the child will get over it. Separation anxiety is such a real thing for some children. It can affected them throughout their life. Ultimately, we should take it more serious in the beginning.

Who a child chooses to surround themselves with is key to their life. Those people could be bad or good influences, which in some way always affects the child. They could be lead down a lot of different roads. #UMBCSOWK388

I think it’s important to note that each parent has a different parenting style. This in turn affects not only their development but how they interact with other children. It’s interesting to see how those parenting styles are either passed down or not. #UMBCSOWK388

@seyermkschool The abortion policy changes are sometimes hard to hear. Banning abortion doesn’t stop it from happening, it only stops safe abortion. They’re going to happen regardless. Everyone comes with their own perspectives and biases, but we have to serve the clients in the best way.

Josie’s case is just one example of a very difficult situation. In states where abortion is illegal, it creates a challenging dilemma. What do you do in that situation? It becomes even harder if you don’t have a solid support system. #UMBCSOWK388

@manarnarrrr You’ve made some great points. I think it is our duty as Social Workers to not only promote but advocate and take action when there is injustice at any level.

Oppression and Racism are topics that can still be seen as controversial. Given what has happened in the last few years, it is imperative to speak out when there are injustices. In Social Work, it is even more imperative to intervene when either one are happening. #UMBCSOWK388

@ndughly1 I completely agree with you Noor! Operant conditioning is more effective in the cases of children or animals. I think it would be important to remind him of his strengths and work from there!

I think everyone is a lifelong learner. We definitely continue to learn as we experience life in our environment. However, societal perceptions and social media can negatively impact our development. It can also put unwanted pressure on us to keep up a certain image. #UMBCSOWK388

@eschucker1 You’ve made some great points! At each stage, something different happens with our development. If we stay stuck in those stages because we don’t properly deal with each stage, it might hurt us later. The lessons learned in each stage give us a better foundation for the future.

This week’s readings have insight to the different stages of development. Genetics don’t tell the whole story but it’s something that can’t be overlooked. I don’t believe anyone’s life is pre-determined but we can’t ignore what someone is predisposed to. #UMBCSOWK388
