Jonathan Edwards on the Kingdom of God leaving the Jews, and going to the Gentiles:

“When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh.” ’Tis manifest here that the destruction of Jerusalem is called the coming of the Lord. This is called the end of the world. ’Tis the end of the old world, and from this time began the new heavens and new earth spoken of in Is. 65:17, and the time wherein the heavens and the earth are shaken [Is. 13:13]. This was the end put to the Jewish church, and polity, and nation, and law, country, city, sanctuary, and all the Jewish world. And from this time began the Gentile church to be the only people of God, for as soon as those husbandmen were destroyed, then the vineyard was let out to others, according to this place. And this coming of Christ, it was that [which] was spoken of so often as being very near by the apostles, and said by Christ to be within the lifetime of some there present [Matt. 24:34]. This coming was begun now and finished in Constantine’s time, when the heathen world was overthrown, as then the Jewish. This calling of the Gentiles is what is called, Matt. 24:31, “the gathering together the elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

God created the celestial bodies (sun, moon, stars) for signs and "seasons", these seasons were the High Feast Days given under Moses. They were specifically commanded because the church was a child and needed instruction for how to interpret and redeem the time.

Now in Christ, the church has reached manhood. We no longer need a specific command, but we ought to understand and reinterpret the pattern set by the Law. With mature wisdom, we mark the calendar in Christ.

Therefore, it is good and right to celebrate Christmas, and recognize the Church Calendar as we declare that Jesus Christ is the Lord of all history.
