Stop Asking AI for Answers. Start Asking It to Teach You.

Two students use AI to solve the same Mathematics question.

The first asks:

"What is the answer?"

The second asks:

"Teach me how to solve it. Don't reveal the answer until I've tried."

Both used AI.

Only one is learning.

This is one of the biggest mistakes people make with AI. They treat it like an answer machine instead of a learning partner.

The quality of your learning depends on the quality of your prompt.

Instead of asking:

"Solve this."

Try asking:

"Explain this as if I'm a beginner."

"Give me a simpler example."

"Quiz me after the explanation."

"Correct my mistakes, but don't tell me the answer immediately."

These prompts force your brain to think, not just copy.

AI is at its best when it helps you understand, not when it helps you avoid thinking.

The future belongs to people who know how to learn faster, ask better questions, and think critically.

Don't use AI to replace your brain.

Use it to train your brain.

Rule of thumb: if your prompt lets you copy-paste the response as a final answer, you probably didn't learn anything. If it forces you to think, write, or guess first — that's a learning prompt.

The "Olodo Uprising" Is Not the Real Problem

The phrase "Olodo uprising" has taken over social media in Nigeria. Opinions are divided. Some use the expression to criticize the declining value placed on education. Others argue that intelligence does not matter as long as people are making money. Their response is simple: "At least they are successful."

Perhaps we are asking the wrong question.

The real issue is not who deserves to be called an "olodo." The real issue is what kind of future we are preparing our young people for.

Walk into many secondary schools today and ask students between the ages of thirteen and sixteen what they hope to become. A growing number no longer dream of becoming engineers, doctors, scientists, teachers, architects, or inventors. Their dream is to become famous on social media.

Many spend hours every day recording videos, following trends, copying dances, acting out skits, and hoping that one post will change their lives overnight. The attraction is obvious. They see ordinary people become internet celebrities. They see money, attention, and influence. They naturally want the same.

There is nothing wrong with entertainment.

Nigeria needs musicians. We need actors, comedians, filmmakers, dancers, and content creators. Every developed nation has successful entertainers. They contribute to culture, create employment, and bring joy to millions.

But history teaches us an important lesson.

No nation became an economic giant because most of its young people wanted to become entertainers.

China did not become a global manufacturing power because of viral videos. Singapore did not transform itself because of comedians. Japan did not become a technological leader because of influencers. Their progress came from generations of young people who mastered science, engineering, medicine, agriculture, research, education, and technology. They solved problems that improved the lives of millions.

Entertainment made individuals wealthy. Knowledge built nations.

That is why the "Olodo uprising" conversation should not end with insults or jokes. It should make every parent, teacher, and student stop and think.

If our brightest young minds spend their teenage years chasing likes instead of learning skills, who will build Nigeria's next technology company? Who will discover new medicines? Who will improve our schools? Who will modernize our farms? Who will design better roads, bridges, and power systems?

Every generation leaves something behind - viral videos 🤣🤠🙄

Young Nigerians should not run away from social media. They should use it wisely. Let it become a classroom, a business platform, and a place to share ideas that educate, inspire, and solve problems.

The goal should not simply be to trend. The goal should be to build.

Years from now, Nigeria will not remember who received the most likes on a video.

Nigeria will remember those who used their minds to move the nation forward.

Mr. Adeolu was an experienced English teacher. He taught over 50 students in one SS2 class. He loved teaching. He enjoyed introducing his students to new vocabulary, grammar rules, comprehension passages, and essay writing techniques.

One day, after teaching essay writing, he gave his students an assignment. "Write a 500-word essay on the topic: The Importance of Reading." The students groaned. "Sir, 500 words?" Mr. Adeolu smiled. "Yes. Practice makes improvement."

The following week, all 50 students submitted their essays. Then reality struck. Each essay will take about 10 minutes to read carefully. Mr. Adeolu needed to check grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, organization, vocabulary choice, and relevance to the topic. He also wanted to write comments that would help each student improve. At 10 minutes per essay, marking 50 essays would require more than 8 hours of focused work.

Mr. Adeolu already had a full teaching timetable. He prepared lesson notes, attended staff meetings, supervised students, set examinations, and handled administrative duties. The pile of essays remained on his desk. Every day he promised himself he would finish marking them.

A week passed, then two weeks... The students became restless. "Sir, when are we getting our essays back?" "Sir, did I make any mistakes?" "Sir, what score did I get?" Mr. Adeolu felt guilty. Weeks later, Mr. Adeolu gave another essay assignment. Many students repeated the same mistakes. Not because they were lazy, not because they were unwilling to learn, but because they never received timely and detailed guidance. Mr. Adeolu felt frustrated. The students felt frustrated. Everyone wanted better results, the problem was not a lack of effort. The problem was the workload.

One evening, after spending hours marking essays, Mr. Adeolu wondered if there was a better way. What if essays could be reviewed within minutes?
