I had to transition from a phase where my writing was to basically impress. I wanted to show off because using simpler dictions felt boring. The shift happened when I got mentored on how a great idea turns a superficial writing into a spell they cast on minds.
It used to be easy. Impossibly easy now that I think of it.
We woke up as kids and all we could think of was food, going to school and playing bobo containers when we were back in the evening.
These days when I write it feels like I'm getting close to harnessing my full potentials in writing.
You know, like I'm pregnant and my water is about to break but then it doesn't break.
But you see, if you think about it that's the beauty of writing. You keep transforming through words into something that leads you to what you believe is peak and everytime you feel like you're close, but then you're still never there.
You suddenly don't need words that people haven't heard before, you just need to be creative with the ones they've heard all their life and then you own them like you created them.
One of the things I crave more than anything recently is to understand how the mental environment that I need to excel with words, works.
It's very crucial because when the radar of that is turned on, on default, you are sure to write from a very authentic place, always.
You don't struggle to string words, they naturally find expression and you explore beyond bounds.
You become wilder with your thoughts and you cross boundaries without fear.
Maybe writing at the end of the day, is about writing something authentic and true to how your mind sees and experiences everything that life gives you the permission to think.
