@JustLilFrankie@junestrings Planting a diverse mix (flowers, grasses, and shrubs/trees) of native plants to your region and not using pesticides on it and also dont mow it (well mowing half of the flowers/grasses each winter to a few inches is fine)
@EO_Farmer@Attila4Fun@WyomingBased They arent spraying it while the trees are planted, they spray after clearcuts/wildfires and before replanting trees to kill off any plants that may compete with the trees (its quite stupid lol)
@FoxfireSoup@aspiringpeasant In this case, at least according to the article, its to kill off competing native vegetation with the trees that are profitable to log (bad) however a lot of glyphosate use in public lands is for invasive plant removal (good)
@allycatventures@giveashitnature Nope most of those species shown in those pics grow very well in florida and in even drier, sandier places. Florida has a huge selection of native flowers and grasses that thrive if planted (they are only drought sensitive their first few months while growing out their roots)
@eeveechuster@girlskwrt Thats a myth. Most of the southeast was open woodlands with some savannah and smaller prairie like area. Outside of like the appalachian mountains and cumberland plateau dense forest was generally restricted to bottomlands/streamside/other areas that didnt burn
@collegecondor @104yearoldRussi @royllovians@LegoRacers2@nikicaga I mean yeah if a neighborhood borders on good habitat, wildlife will bleed over. but unless the HOA burns/thins forest, has banned nonnative plants (including turf grasses), pesticides, taking down dead trees etc. then you have bad habitat and will lose a ton of biodiversity
@nb__413@tengoningunidea@iamNOTbisexual unfortunately some invasives require herbicides to get rid of. stuff like cogon grass needs many heavy coats of glyphosate over a couple years to get rid of it. fire only encourages it, and it is impossible to pull up all the roots
Riot nerfing a sentinel agent every 2 patch might as well just remove this role…
Also that camera nerf is the most casual friendly change ever and ruins the whole concept of the ability.
@jesscataylr@thedankneewt@catboidabi @velvetbnuuy i wasnt gonna repond but i gotta. Multiple studies from diff environments have shown
1. cats are the lead/one of the leading nonnatural causes of death
2. owned cats make up a a good portion of deaths (~33%)
3. 2/3 of their prey are native species (closer to 100% outside cities)
@GBob21320095 @Dyfodiad @Jarjar63655428@the_transit_guy and thats 100% fine. the problem isnt people in the suburbs opposing high rises, the problem is most major cities being zoned 60-75% single family. makes housing unaffordable, increases traffic, and harms the environment just cuz some idiots wont move out to the burbs
