ALEX Security Update - May 18, 2024
We want to keep you informed of the latest developments in our ongoing efforts to recover assets and secure our platform.

Asset Recovery:
We continue to recover assets. As shared in our last updates, all other tokens are safe, except the 13.8 million STX currently in various CEXes’ frozen accounts and exploiter’s onchain wallets.

Collaboration with CEXes:
We continue to work closely with centralized exchanges (CEXes) to block and freeze exploiters' accounts and assets. We observe that the funds have significantly slowed down moving from on-chain wallets to CEXes. You can view the spreadsheet here: Forensic Data Spreadsheet (https://t.co/dcPSphk5oX). This sheet will be regularly updated with new information as we track the exploiter’s movement.

Collaboration with DeFi Projects:
We are also working closely with DeFi projects on @Stacks, including @ArkadikoFinance, @bitflow, @StackingDao, @Stackswap_BTC and @VelarBTC to block exploiters' transactions. These include swapping STX to project tokens, bridging out, and selling on CEXes. These efforts have deterred further movement by the exploiter of the misappropriated users assets.

Legal Actions:
We have successfully filed a police report in Singapore and submitted the report to 24 major CEXes who have requested for the report for their follow up with law enforcement.

Next Steps:
As we continue to "dry out" the exploiter's options to move the funds, we are tirelessly working on the following initiatives:
a. Treasury Grant Program: Developing a program to support the community affected by the exploit.
b. Security Strengthening: Currently, we are working closely with @AnciliaInc , a leading cybersecurity firm known for its continuous monitoring, and rapid breach detection and response. We are also in the process of hiring a head of security to strengthen our team with a dedicated security expert.
c. Gradual Reopening: We will slowly reopen ALEX AMM after ensuring all security measures are in place.

We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate these challenging times. Our top priorities are to retrieve the stolen funds, assist affected users, and ensure the security and integrity of the ALEX protocol. We will continue to provide updates as we make progress.
