The Integrated Coach Depot at Bandra Terminus is set to receive three new pit lines, with construction currently underway.

These additional pit lines will greatly increase the depot's capacity for coach maintenance, facilitating the operation of more trains from Bandra Terminus in the future.

Glitz & Glam: Three-time National Film Award winner Shoojit Sircar today got Vande Bharat Express at Mumbai Central on Western Railway to shoot for his new project. This would be the first time on Indian Railways that the train is being used for a commercial shoot.

1960s: A concrete plane at Juhu Garden, Santacruz West

The Air-India Boeing 707 model stood proudly in Juhu Garden, also known as Nehru Park. It was a part of countless childhoods.

Made of reinforced concrete, the plane depicted an Air-India Boeing 707-436. The cabin and flight deck had “seats” where kids could sit, pretending to fly high in the sky. It was more than a structure—it was an adventure.

Sadly, this iconic model met a tragic end. In March 2009, a piece of the plane fell off, fatally injuring a 9-year-old boy. By January 2011, the old airplane was scrapped and replaced with a modern version.

A piece of Bombay’s heritage, gone but never forgotten.
