NLNG has joined government, regulators and industry partners in the new Joint Decarbonisation Working Group (JDWG). The group was created to help coordinate efforts to reduce carbon emissions across Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
At the launch in Abuja, NLNG was represented by Umar Aboki and Temitope Ogedengbe. Other participants included representatives from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, National Council on Climate Change, Federal Ministry of Environment, NUPRC, NMDPRA and NNPC.
The JDWG will help improve policy coordination, emissions tracking and reporting, adoption of low carbon technology, capacity building, use of cleaner technologies and access to climate funding. It will also support Nigeria’s goal of ending routine gas flaring by 2030.
NLNG’s participation is a recognition of its leadership in the area of decarbonisation, and demonstrates its commitment to working with key stakeholders to develop Nigeria's oil and gas sector responsibly and supporting Nigeria’s move towards a lower-carbon future.
