@EricLDaugh The GOP needs a full throated rebuke of compassion. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lived here 30 years. If you crossed illegally, you’re a criminal. This is black and white. Compassion for criminals will destroy the west.
@George038581001 @sesmillesimus @visegrad24 Personally I would vaporize all of Gaza for that act but unfortunately the west is held hostage by its compassion obsession.
Democrats say same things about different judges. Both sides are correct here. Fundamentally the issue is it’s too hard to legislate because of the filibuster. Lack of legislation created a void filled by ever expanding executive power which in turn was countered by ever expanding judicial challenges. All of this could be avoided by eliminating the filibuster.
@Clips_ETH@visegrad24 I think history is a good teacher. Radicalized societies who elect terrorists (Japan/Germany 1940’s) only change when the pain they suffer for their choices is relentless and unfathomable (atomic bomb).
@sesmillesimus @ParT0utatis I agree. It’s a tragedy Hamas would rather see their own people killed than surrender and release hostages. However there is no way to pursue an enemy actively using guerilla tactics without killing innocent lives. To blame Israel is to say the nation has no right to self defense
@sesmillesimus @visegrad24 Targeting civilians means paragliding into a music festival or entering a Kibbutz. Bombing a city with known combatants is perfectly legal. Sadly Hamas doesn’t mark their buildings in neon lights for easy IDF identification.
@jpodhoretz@guypbenson@AndrewCMcCarthy Oral orders are not binding and the administration did not violate the written order which mentioned nothing about turning around planes.
@Jaymemaskup@maiamindel@macro_models Put another way they paid 50% of taxes but account for 28% of the shortfall meaning on average they are more likely to pay than lower income people.
@Jaymemaskup@maiamindel@macro_models Who determines what is “fair”? The alternative isn’t disastrous. People who make bad choices die, which limits bad choices in the future. By preventing consequences, we get more bad choices. Government charity creates dependence and immorality everywhere it is tried.
@Jaymemaskup@maiamindel@macro_models I would much rather have a small percentage of people die for bad, immoral choices than a much higher percentage kept on government life support that is just tolerable enough and fails to send a strong deterrent to prevent such behavior in the future.
@TonerousHyus@earlyvotedata Ok. They have different methodology that makes them less bouncy. If they model the electorate correctly they will look like geniuses but they would likely not capture genuine shifts due to their sampling method.
