Would you believe these insane tariffs that the U.S. is bullying Canada with?
250% for milk?
291% for butter?
208% for whey?
241% for CHEESE?
Oh wait - those are actually tariffs that Canada imposed on the U.S. last year.
@JohnEStrom71840@realDonaldTrump Lol... Nope. I pay more taxes than most people and I don't cut corners. But this is a slippery slope. Check out the news. They are looking to get taxpayer records. Question for you... Did you support Biden wanting to hire an army of IRS agents? I didn't.
Right? Kind of unpleasantly surprised in the conservative crowd so far. You are absolutely right... unfortunately. :) I am sure that will stoke more group think outrage. Come on conservatives, someone prove me wrong and be a critical thinker that can vote for someone, but not feel like they are forced to agree with everything. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yup, I don't know your political beliefs and frankly I don't care because you are right about this, even just as a possibility. That is why as a conservative (that is also a critical thinker vs. a group thinker), I am opposed to this new move by DOGE. I like everything else they are doing. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I don't agree with the fake assasination, but it sure would have been great to have an FBI that actually reported on it scientifically and honestly. That is why I support Trump and people like Kash Patel. You see, I am not anti-Trump. Just not a group thinker. I happen to believe that less government intrusion is better. We may actually agree on that even though we may be fairly far apart on other issues. :) Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I guess I am even more of a fraud because I don't agree with Trump and Elon on their H1B Visa stance either. I have seen and continue to see that program severly abused to displace American Engineers every day in my field. But that doesn't keep me from supporting almost everything else that they are doing. It doesn't have to be all or nothing... don't ask questions... toe the line... that is a bad idea and has ended bad for every movement in history. If we have a chance to survive, it will be by the amazing power of the everyday American in conjunction with really awesome leaders. But not at the expense of the loss of privacy or freedom.
Wow, so after I vote for someone, I should just shut down my mind and not engage anymore? That is very foreign to me. I was raised to keep an open, sharp, critical mind. I enjoy open, vigorous debate even with my friends and family. No one is a mindless sheep. Sorry to don't have that.
Not sure what part is fake. Here was a recent post I have in favor of DOGE. I love the movement. But I am not on board with government intrusion into the private sector any more than they already have. I alos don't believe that going after grandma to pay taxes on her Etsy crafts is the key. We need to reduce spending.
@Scorpio110444@realDonaldTrump LOL... I still feel they are better than the alternative and they are doing some real good. We have to cut that debt down considerably. Just against government intrusion into our private lives. Maybe we can agree on that at least. :)
@CathyCo80727847@realDonaldTrump Hey Cathy, I sure agree. It will take time, but I am truly impressed with how fast they are moving. I love all the things that are coming to light. Just not as keen on turning their attention from the government waste to the private citizens. And no, I am not a tax cheat. :)
Fascinating replies so far. From people accusing me of being a fake Trump supporter (LOL) to mostly group think. My oh my, where are my independent minded conservatives? Again, I ask the simple question to all of you: Did you support Biden when he wanted to hire an army of IRS agents? I did NOT. Do you trust the government long after Trump and Elon are gone with this level of privacy invasion? Do you think they will stop at just checking for fraud? Slippery slope folks.
I voted for you because I wanted to have confidence again in the government. I wanted to see DOGE clean house. But now you are turning them against us, the American people, by turning over our private tax and finance information. That is not what I voted for. Shame on you and DOGE.
Sure love your concern for many years about our wasteful spending! I am a great fan of the good parts of DOGE, but not so excited about them looking to audit taxpayers now. That is a slipperly slope and erodes freedom while actually increasing government power and control. Stick to the Expense side of the Budget DOGE! What say you?
Hello @heathersteed , thanks for the reply. It is a slippery slope. I am all for watchdogging the IRS itself and making sure they do their job, even auditing tax fraud. It is a whole other issue to have the executive branch have unfettered access to American's personal financial data. What happens if someone we trust far less than Trump and Elon take over down the road. They will have the same access. I am for less government control and creepiness, not more.
