What on earth is a BIKE BUS I hear you ask?

A group of kids cycling together along a set route can be a #BikeBus with a few adults supervising the ride to keep everyone safe.

We’d love to see more parents + schools working jointly to organise these.

A special moment this morning! Instead of riding the bus or driving, over 175 of our students and families joined our #BikeBus today to get to school. To make the morning even better, yard signs and posters with positive messages greeted the students as they rode by! 🚲🏡

The #bicibús #bikebus is positive for multiple reasons:

✅Promotes sustainable mobility and safe routes to school
✅Put kids in the center of mobility policies in the city
✅Demand for better infrastructure
✅ Demonstrates there is another way to move around the city

@Sustrans I honestly think @Sustrans @WeAreCyclingUK @activetraveleng strategy should be much more heavily weighted towards school routes and reducing school run traffic. Easiest way politically and simple to communicate. It’s the only way here in my view. Otherwise the change is too slow.

New @GWC_News #bikebus route piloted in #EDINBURGH today! This is the 4th route to the George Watson's College. It starts in Blackford and cuts past @canaan_lane_pri. It took us only 12 minutes to go 2.5km on quiet roads. @blackfordsafer1 @SpokesLothian @CoachBalto @BikeBusShaw

Last very tiny bike bus for the @GWC_News Lanark Road route today. Roadworks forced us on to the canal. It was peaceful and pollution free but very tight and not suitable for group cycling with kids. Nice to hear the kids chatting😊 @Junicycle_LR @blackfordsafer1 @SpokesLothian @

Today I witnessed what change looks like.
3 years ago I started The Bicycle Bus, before that families that rode to school did so on their own.
Today we had a record 28 on the bus, cyclists as far as the eye can see. 😄 & 🤣

Tonight I attended talks at @ken2leam meeting, 1 speaker was @adamtranter, West Mids Commissioner for 🚶‍♂️& 🚴‍♂️.
Adam inspired me to start The Bicycle Bus in 2020 so I was excited to hear him and meet him.
Now I feel energised more than ever to build on it #BikeBus #activetravel
