Playing State Finals at a much shorter yardage will allow teams that probably would not have a chance to win, a chance to win now. It will make it a short iron and putting contest. It would be interesting to know who set these yardages and was there anybody influencing them to shorten the yardages versus having them close to what they’ve been in the past? Something is just not passing the smell test here! IMO

I do not agree with the length being shortened, but my major complaint is about the “experience” for our girls! When Purdue University offers the IHSAA to be played at Ackerman, how do you say no? In 25 years from now do you think the girls that play in State will be talking about the experience they had at Battleground and how cool it was to play there? No, not a chance!! However, they would talk about the experience at Purdue. It’s a Championship quality course, Battleground is not! Poor decision making by IHSAA or it just comes down to politics! You tell me?!
@Fromthecartpath Finishing hole at Ackerman where State should be played! This course, facilities, and experience would be one all the girls would remember and should be able to experience!
I still am in shock it’s even being played here. Battleground is not a bad course to just play, but it is in no way a State Championship course! Parking will be a disaster, driving range not big enough and right next to one tee box, cart paths are not throughout all the course, putting and chipping areas too small! When Purdue offers State to be played at Ackerman how does the IHSAA turn them down?? Is it politics or lack of intelligence on IHSAA board? The girls deserve better!
Come out to @PurdueGolf next week and support these ladies! We have a great field coming to West Lafayette next week and some high level golf will be played. #BoilerUp
Top Reasons why Battleground should not be Girls State Championship Course!
1. Range is tiny and not good at all.
2. Range is right next to first tee.
3. Tiny practice putting green
4. Tiny chipping area
5. No continuous cart paths throughout the whole course for spectators
6. Hole 18 not a good finishing hole
7. Not a championship course!
Appreciate the O’Neals stepping up for the State and there are no hard feels towards them. @IHSAA1 though dropped the ball on this! Such poor decisions made by these 🤡’s!!! The girls deserve better than this! Especially when there were Championship courses offering to host State!!!!
@IHSAA1 Poor decision to move Girls Golf Regionals to Harrison Hills, next poor decision will probably be announced that our Girls State Champ. will be played at Battleground. Hope that I’m wrong! State Championships should be played at a State Championship quality courses! Sad! IHSAA🤡🤡’s
