I have just read a tweet of @Laque_davis where he writes that, given all the shenanigans we have recently witnessed around the #CAB3 vote (with vehicles and money being brazenly handed out to MPs & others in return for support for CAB3), in future Presidential Elections will be replaced by Presidential Auctions!

He is absolutely correct. If CAB3 ever becomes law Presidents of Zimbabwe will in future be determined by who can pay the highest bribe to MPs.

Although Parliament is in breach of Section 198 of the Constitution it has enacted a Code of Conduct & Ethics for MPs.

Section 6(1) of that states that a "Member must not promote any matter in Parliament in return for payment or for a direct benefit to the immediate family of that Member or to a business partner of that Member."

Section 6(3) states that "where, in the pursuit of a Member's Parliamentary duties, the existence of a personal financial interest is likely to give rise to a conflict with the public interest, the Member has a
personal responsibility to resolve that conflict either by disposing of the interest or by standing aside from the public business in question."

Part IV sets out what interests must be disclosed.

This includes, as set out in Section 14, gifts. The section states "the receipt, description value and source of any gift with a value in excess of US$4 500, 00 (United States Dollars) or gifts from a single source which cumulatively exceed the value of US$.4 500,00 (United States Dollars) in any calendar year or hospitality intended as a gift in kind, including such gifts and hospitality from an external source to a spouse, permanent companion or dependent child of a Member" must be disclosed.

Part V says there must be a "Members Interest register". There is a Confidential Register and a Public Register. Gifts are part of the Public Register.

Section 20(1) states that "the public part of the register shall be open to inspection by members of the public".

I trust the 4th Estate will now inspect the register following reports of cars and other gifts which have been given to a variety of MPs recently.

In terms of section 6 of the Parliamentary Ethics code she must now either surrender the vehicle back to the donor or not vote at all.

Zimbabwe is a very difficult place to live if you are just an ordinary citizen trying to get on with your life.

Yesterday, a young man got in touch with me seeking financial assistance to travel to Zimbabwe because he had lost his father. I helped him, and his bus left Johannesburg at 5 p.m. It travelled all the way to Zimbabwe and got to the border in the morning, where it was cleared. It then continued its journey into Zimbabwe.

When the bus got to Bubi, ZIMRA officials, who are Zimbabwe’s customs officials, sent it all the way back to the border for another search.

As I write this, that bus is back at the border. This young man left Johannesburg yesterday at 5 p.m., and it is now past 6 p.m. the following day. He had already done more than half of his journey from Johannesburg, only to be forced back.

I honestly do not understand why our government makes life so painful and difficult for ordinary people. It is cruel, painful, and heartbreaking.

This is one of the reasons many young Zimbabweans do not want to return home when they complete their studies. If you are not part of the political elite circle, life can be incredibly difficult. Even those who are trying to live by the book and simply live normal lives are subjected to unnecessary hardship.

It is heartbreaking. It is sad. The once respected Zimbabwe has become a mafia state.

There will be no community service.
There will be no suspended sentence.
There will be no early release for good behaviour.

If you proceed to violate the Constitution through CAB3, you will find yourself at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison, serving a minimum of 10 years to a maximum of 20 years behind those cold walls.

Non-negotiable.Let me explain why this must be so.The Constitution of Zimbabwe is not a mere legal document drafted for academic debate. It is the hard-won product of the blood, sweat, and sacrifices of millions of Zimbabweans. It enshrines the principles of democracy, rule of law, separation of powers, and protection of fundamental rights.

When you tamper with it for narrow political expediency, when you push CAB3 through manipulation, intimidation, or abuse of state institutions, you are not just breaking a law you are betraying the very soul of the nation.

I have watched with growing alarm as some among us treat governance like a personal chessboard. They believe that power is permanent, that institutions exist to serve individuals rather than the people, and that the Constitution can be bent, twisted, or ignored whenever it becomes inconvenient.

History has taught us from ancient empires to modern failed states that such arrogance always ends in tears. Zimbabwe will not be another casualty. To the CAB3 pushers specifically Do not hide behind technicalities. Do not claim “national interest” when your real interest is self-preservation and the extension of unchecked power.

The people see through the rhetoric. They remember the empty promises of the past. They remember how previous constitutional manipulations only deepened poverty, division, and emigration. Enough is enough.

The Constitution demands accountability. It demands that public office be exercised with transparency and humility. Violating it is not a “political game.” It is not “how things are done.” It is a serious offence against the Republic itself.

Those who orchestrate such violations must face the full weight of justice not tomorrow, but when the institutions are finally allowed to function without fear or favour.I call upon all serving members of the security services, the judiciary, the civil service, and patriotic citizens.

Do not allow yourselves to be used as tools for constitutional violations. Your oath is to the Constitution, not to individuals. Your legacy will be judged by whether you stood on the side of legality and justice or became accomplices to its destruction.

To the youth of Zimbabwe the future belongs to you. Do not be deceived by short-term benefits or political patronage. Demand
constitutionalism. Demand leaders who respect term limits, who fear the law, and who put service above self.

Your generation has the power to break the cycle of impunity. To the churches, civil society, traditional leaders, and all peace-loving Zimbabweans: This is not a time for silence. Raise your voices. Document every abuse. Hold those in power to account.

‼️A warning to all South Africans ‼️

If Zimbabwe becomes a family dictatorship and dynasty of the Mnangagwa family, the influx of Zimbabweans into South Africa will be ten times higher.

The illegal immigration we are all debating about is caused by two corrupt political parties; Zanu PF in Zimbabwe and FRELIMO party in Mozambique.

If we want to reduce illegal immigration in this country we have to address the root causes in addition to:

🟥STRONGER BORDERS and

🟥STRONGER ENFORCEMENT of the immigration act.

Do not ignore what is happening next door because it directly impacts our country.

Do not ignore it because the corrupt Zimbabwean politicians and businessmen now are corrupting our economy and politicians with their cigarette money, gold mafia money and dirty dollars.

These two Zimbabwean crooks are trying to take South Africa down a path of disaster.

We must challenge @CyrilRamaphosa to cut all ties with Zanu PF and strongly oppose the banana republic constitutional amendment to give Mnangagwa endless time in office.

This video focuses on the proposed changes to DELIMITATION (the drawing of constituency boundaries) and how those changes may allow ZANU PF to "legally" retain power even if the vast majority of voters reject them at an election.

This is just ONE of the many reasons to write to Parliament to demand the total withdrawal/rejection of the Bill by our MPs when its introduced to Parliament next week.

We have done everything the law requires, we notified, engaged, and complied, yet more than 25 of our applications have been denied. This is a clear case of repression. It is a deliberate attempt to shut down civic space and silence the people. But no honeymoon lasts forever, the moment of quiet endurance has passed.

Our rights are not granted by the police, they are guaranteed by the Constitution. We will not beg for permission to exercise what is already ours. We move forward, to gather, organise, and speak out peacefully, boldly, and without fear. We will not be silenced. We will not retreat. The Constitution will be defended.

This letter shows exactly how rights are being undermined in Zimbabwe, and why one side of the constitutional debate is being persecuted.

A public meeting is notified, not applied for. The law does not require permission. Yet the police say “your response shall be processed in due course,” as if they must approve it.

That language turns a constitutional right into a privilege. The police are not there to grant permission, they are there to facilitate.
This is what continues to delegitimise the amendment bill process as we head to towards the parliamentary debate.

The Constitutional Defenders Forum has the right to engage with citizens, just as those who support Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 also have the right to engage. Yet it increasingly only one side is being allowed to do so by the police.

Zimbabwean Member of Parliament for Chinhoyi, Leslie Mhangwa, was speaking at a Workers’ Day event when the microphone was rudely taken away from him by ZANUPF thugs who are part of the intelligence infrastructure. He was saved by members of the public who were listening to his address.

Now, if a Member of Parliament is not allowed to speak at a public event addressing issues that are affecting workers, and the microphone is violently taken away from him simply because he has said that the inflation rate is not matching wage increases, and that is seen as a threat to the government of the day, what kind of society has Zimbabwe become?

What about an ordinary person like myself or others? What would happen to us if this can happen to an elected official, a Member of Parliament who is speaking to the constituents who elected him, yet is not allowed to do so?

These are the things that have turned Zimbabwe into a banana republic. These are the actions that continue to delegitimise our country’s standing internationally. You cannot have mob justice. You cannot have a mob turning up at an official event where a Member of Parliament has been given the floor to speak and is then treated like this.
