I love this picture! It’s the first time I ever walked in a race in 2013. Look at everyone behind little ole me. That was in my Church’s annual 5k!! One mile. Something Doctors told my parents I would never be able to do. How do you do what someone might call impossible? The answer is in this picture. You don’t do it alone but have people around you to keep you on the “Straight and narrow.”

I loved the finish line of the race not just because I could be done after being exhausted, but because the finish line had my church, St Patrick Parish in front of me and I had her parishioners behind me. A lot of things went through my mind before the race. What if any part of my body started barking at me? And then it was showtime and God showed up too. In the symbol of my Church ahead of me and in the image of the people behind me.

When you have any kind of worry in your life, it’s so freeing to let go and trust God to show you the way.

I am so passionate about that race and the lessons I learned from it, that I decided to take over as race director for it. Going on my 6th year now I wanted an opportunity to help others achieve their goals, just like I did mine that day. It kicks off our annual festival, a staple of Saint Patrick’s for a long time now. So in the Gospel of John today, when Jesus rose from the dead, it was John who ran fastest to the tomb, not in fear, but instead in faith.

Easter is always a tremendous reminder for me, not only in the fact that Christ is Risen, but the vigorous faith that John showed when it would have been very easy for him to fear.

Despite the Challenges of my life I will always choose my faith over my fear. Thank you Mom and Dad for my name and most importantly, my faith. Hallelujah!
