@NestoHoops Southern won the conference and the tourney in 2000. I left after the 2000 season to be an assistant at Illini Bluffs under Mike Colston for a year. I’m not sure what happened in the Bi-County after I left. I know that SRV had some good teams for a few years after that.
@NestoHoops ‘99-‘00 season I was coaching at Spoon River Valley. We played at Dallas City - we were fighting for 2nd in the conference. Patrick Allen had 36 points on 18 of 18 field goal shooting. I believe their top scorer had 18 (I don’t recall his name). Valley won.
@Love_the_sun_2 Moved to IN from IL in 2020. COVID lockdowns, laws were changing, taxes were skyrocketing - I’d had enough. We decided on July 3 that we’d move - by July 27 I was living in my camper in IN so our youngest could start HS school on time. My wife followed in October. Best decision!
@KentMurphy First day of practice when I coach, we spend about 10 minutes talking about the safety bag and the rules that apply there. Then we practice taking a lead and coming back to the bag, being certain to stay on the white.
@scubaryan_ Jim Thome once told me that he prefers to sign with a blue marker because the blue doesn’t fade, where black typically fades to brown over time.
@Jonathan_A_Hand@wischlist Maturity, resilience, and being able to manage the emotional toll the game and life can have are other considerations I can see for them to stay in college another year. I wish them both all the success they deserve. ILL….
@TheCensoredRock We decided at nearly 50 years old and living our entire lives in the same small community that we would move to a different state. BEST. DECISION. EVER.
@marvinfreeman84 Growing up, our town had basic cable. We had 12 stations - one was channel 9 WGN which meant I could watch the Cubs and channel 11 which was THE Superstation, WTBS Atlanta, which meant I could watch the Braves. I love it that I got to grow up when baseball was great. HBD Marquis!
@wischlist Yep. They do so many things instinctively well. They have some set plays, but much of their game is based on concepts and fundamentals. Their spacing and movement is terrific, their passing is crisp and hits the target in the shooting pocket - unfortunately, Duke is fun to watch.
